The OS War

Just wondering, but which OS is your favorite?

If you don't know, OS stands for Operating System, but if you don't know, you really shouldn't be at this forum.

I recently got Ubuntu, and that was the main reason that I did not participate in the Aries tournament, but I am pleased that I found that I could install StarCraft using WINE.

I forgot to put "Other". Hope everyone uses Microsoft, Apple or Linux OS.

 

I had an old Apple that I grew up using, and that is still probably my favorite in terms of all time. I voted xp though because that is what I'm used to at this point and I prefer it over the few times I've used a friends mac, though that was mostly because I wasn't used to the lay out I think.

 

I have vista now, but XP still owns

 

Unfortunately they stopped making XP. Apparently microsoft wants computer buyers to go with Vista.

Dude you need Leopard and Tiger as different options, different Mac OS's

 

By mac do you mean:

The classic systems ie OS 1 all the way through to OS 9

or

The new unix based systems OS 10.0 through to OS 10.5. With OS 10.6 to be released soon next year.?

 

Ive always had xp (so far as i can remember... Almost ) and I thought that Vista was overrated, but when I got my laptop, with Vista, IT ROCKS! So much comfortable imo ;}

I've had most Windows versions since 3.1 or 3.11, can't remember. I didn't have ME, but that's cool

Vista is better than XP

You just have to know how to use it. It gets all the bad rap simply cause the majority of Vista users are idiots and don't know how to use their computers.

 

AMEN. All Vista problems are user-generated.

I voted other, simply because my FAVORITE is not in the list.

 

Expecting every user to not be an idiot is unrealistic. The important parts of an OS should remain functional even for a beginner.

Of course, which of XP and Vista is better is irrelevant since Mac OS X is better than both for everything except games.

 

Thats is why Microsoft OS's win

 

Windows is not a basic operating system. I would totally recommend Macintosh to any BEGINNER to computers. Unfortunately, we live in an age where the only beginners are young children and the elderly, therefore, most intermediate-advanced operating systems are better suited to most people with access to computers than beginner systems.

I'm (hopefully) making the switch to linux-based systems tomorrow, and I want to get in to operating system design myself. I already have a name for my operating system...

 

i just dont like having to do run as admin for everything its so annoying D: i spent forever trying to run my command prompt as admin lol cuz on my comp its like system 36 or something so i was trying to cd to sys36 lol then i remember ohhhh this isnt xp anymore i have to do run as admin i guess i just need to adjust to it ive grown accustom to my xp
because it is not like my old os i have to learn this one now

 

I have Vista but I prefer XP since most of the games that I play work better, or just work when i use XP.

The reason why most games don't work with vista for you is because you are either A) playing crappy games or B) not reading the game requirements.

 

lol most games work for windows... unless they are like some freaky games
