Yup, we all know when a nuke goes off so does a powerfull electric magnetic pulse. It would be good to see this implemented. As a result Protoss buildings and units should get inflicted more damage from a nuke. Yes life is unfair, but this brush of realism would be welcome. We mean; come on now, don't overlook this blizzard.

Furthermore, desert maps would benifit from localized sand storms every now and then as well as foot/track marks from units as they march thru sand. This would add flavor to the game, it's another touch of realism. This could be used to someone's advantage/ used as strategy by players.

I'm surprised Blizzard has decided to completely leave out any remnants of battles that have taken place on the map during a particular game. I think it so immersing and appreciative for the game's map to keep record of where battles have taken place by staining the map with some bones/mech debris permanently for the duration of the entire game.

I'm just thinking out loud. Perhaps something to add to the next upcoming game of the SCII series.

The nuke is terrible, anyone thats not afk just moves everything important when they see it on left side.

And anyone that lets 3+ ghosts get into base and lets terrain get 3 nukes all at once deserves to lose.

So other than using it on bad players for the lulzs, its crap.

And thats why I don't play terrain.

    "OMFG THEY GET A NUKE?!!"

-uses nuke for first time, sees that it sucks-

    -decides to play protoss instead-

    It happened exactly like that.

Edit: Im sorry what was this thread about?

I think the nuke should do more damage to zerg units since they are all living, and radioactivity is a bigger issue for living things than, say, metal buildings; I also think the nuke should EMP-effect protoss stuff. The nuke should be completely normal against terran. Who uses nukes in TvT anyway?

I do not agree with the map-based events. They take away from the idea that player strategy is 100% pure. The terrain should not change in a way that it affects the strategy of a player part-way through a game. (I hate the destructible terrain, btw.)

However, I do think that battle debris would be a great idea-except in situations where there are more than two teams. A third party could glean information from debris that is from a battle they were not a part of.

yeah the nuke could use some work, maybe making the dot a bit smaller or having it come down quicker, say 15 seconds instead of 20 would be nice.

I think we have to realize that we're playing a game where humans are at war with a hive-minded race of bug aliens, who themselves are at war with a race of super powerful brain-aliens. Not only that, but the latter two races were apparently created as science projects (albeit on a cosmic scale) by an even more powerful race of what are essentially brain-bug-aliens. Realism flew out the window a while ago.

Also, as far as the battle debris bit goes, you should A) verify with us that you've played on Ultra settings before making that gripe, and B) seriously consider why you are focusing on things like footprints and sandstorms while playing what is one furiously paced RTS game.

Does anyone think it would be overpowered if you couldn't see a dot at all?

I think it would be far more interesting if, lacking detectors, you always had to guess whether it was coming down on workers or your units, in front of their army or in your retreat position, etc.

The other possibility would be some sort of radioactive effect I suppose, i.e. a lingering damage aura effect that faded shortly. Could add interesting and slightly protracted zone control play, and bring irradiate (in some form) back into multiplayer.

im only unhappy with the damage the nuke causes. the amount of damage the nukes do doesn't really make me want to use them. they are inaffective against units because you can just move them away and they barely do anything to buildings.

Who cares about realism? Making footprints on sand would make scouting less useful. Seriously who cares about realism. All I want is awsome mutyplayer. We dont want an overuse of nukes. That would make mutyplayer much more unbalanced if terrans could make 3 nukes that would compltely pwn the protoss main.

Battle debris won't do anything else than just anoy some people. Always have the god damn debris there would be anoying for me.

So, footprints will just make scouting less important. Strong nukes will make players use much more nukes and thats not what we want. In TVP we dont wanna have tons of super strong missiles all the game. Nukes are a kind of worker killer/ supply depot killer or army killer. We willsee an overuse of nukes if they get more powerful. And for the debris, well basically its just gonna annoy alot of people.
