The New Firebat

Do you like the new Firebat? I don't. I think it should be built from the barracks and I don't like
the model either. It's too large. What about you?

Yes, I've even suggested in another post that Firebats could be made at barracks, but require a Factory, similarly to Stalkers in the Gateway needing Cybernetics core. The only problem would be that it would be harder to get a Firebat, as you would always need 2 structures to make it. Since it already only hits ground, it might make it very underused.

 

Can you add a "It's OK" option, right now you have to choose between hating it and loving it.

Where does it say the firebat would be build from the factory? I was away a few days.

I didnt want the firebat back at all.

 

It is on the new batch. They showed some pics, one of them with some firebats, and Karune explained that they're now stronger and tougher but require being made from the Factory. Also, Vikings are currently at Starport and Predator got Scrapped.

 

eyah i agree with GM_k...well i didnt mind the firebat coming back..but i actually wanted it gone too..

to bad everyone wanted it back

 

I mean, I would rather have new units than old ones coming back.

I don't think it came back because of the people asking. I think it returned because they might have needed it to balance the inclusion of the Zerg. We don't know how are the Zerg work progressing.

 

I added an option: I don't want the Firebat in the game at all.

 

I like the new unit model however i do think that making it being built from the factory is a little, strange. It is an infantry unit after all.

I dont see how you can not like a big fat infantry unit with flamethrowers, it will work wonders imo.

 

Wow I didn't know that ijffdrie. I thought it was a vehicle.
I didn't miss the Firebat, but now when I saw it I thought it was awesome. It sounds a bit strange that it's built from Factory, but if Goliath is an infantry then it doesn't sound so strange.

How can someone carry missiles on his shoulders and machine guns on his hands?...

 

The model is absurdly huge, it seriously looks like it's twice the size of the Marine which doesn't make any sense. The model itself isn't too bad, it's just the size of the thing that's not working.

Besides the model, I don't think that the Firebat should come back in SC2. It wasn't particularly useful back then, and I don't really see this new and improved Firebat being any better. Requiring the Factory to make these guys doesn't help much either, since by the time you get a Factory it's too late in the game for these guys to be of much use.
