Hi All, I am currently a toss player but have been noticing that either im not that good with toss or terran has a better unit selection. one of the best unit that toss has is the void rays but it takes me a little time to make them and buy the time i can i get rushed by heaver units and i cant defend my self... i can play terran well b/c of the campaign but i like toss better...
Build a turret missle or two build your workers, as this is where VR's typically hit first, and mass up marine early, as mass marines will demolish any VR's that come your way.
@nate, WTH HE'S TALKING ABOUT PLAYING TOSS LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL ROFLMAO!!!!! anyways. Don't just go directly to mass void rays. you'll obviously be slaughtered if u dont get out a sizable army. So! u gotta mass and expandd slowly tech your way up. its ok to be a bit slower. it's better than getting pwnd. also, u dont NEED to use void rays (even tho i use them in practically almost every game D: omg they so good with harassment), u can just think of another strat.
I'm a heavy Zerg player but my side race is Protoss, I played them heavily during the beta, here is a few things to remember. Early game Terran will dominate you if he has the bigger force always, there is no way you can win head on. If he goes early with marines and marauders, you must forcefield your ramp because of how much damage marauders put out to your gateway units, if he continues to get mm make sure your teching up to collosi. Forcefield your ramp and keep your stalkers near the cliff for some free shots, although be wary of his scans. If you are forced to fight him make sure you have a sentry with guardian shield, it will make a big difference. Try to use all you have against Terran, they are a tough race to beat and you will have to definitely out think him. This is a major part of TvP and the Terran imbalance not only effecting Zerg, make sure you harass him, and yes, void rays but do not over do it unless he is going mass tanks/thors. If he continues making MM you might want to invest in some storms, when you get the tech to make them make sure you start researching storm immediately, but not only that make your high templars early because of how they will save up energy. Plop down two storms next to each other, the storms stack and will do major damage, also if the tanks are to annoying, invest in a few phoenix to lift them.
The key to playing toss/sc2 is not rushin one unit especially one that is beaten by marines. Instead find a strat which is a way of maintaining an army researching attacking and tech rather than teching to void rays and losing to the guy making varied units
Toss against Terran, LUCK is a huge factor. Against a good Ter player that scouts constantly is near impossible to go heavy offense. Most of the time I'm forced to counter and then go search/destroy Ter's expos. There's really only 1 solid way to beat Ter with Toss, that is to out tech them. Of course this means you need a very good unit/econ macro. I always have a little of everything against Ter. I would have something like 4lot, 7stlk/w upgrade, 2sent, 2imm/w upgrade, 2colo, 2obs with ground1/2/0 upgrade around mid game. This way they can't exactly build to counter me. Which is what most scan happy Ter. do. And later if the game stretches to the point where both has 3 expos, I would get as many carriers as possible and get a armor upgrades if there's time. There is no way that Toss or Zerg can have a fair head on fist fight with Ter. Their scv repairing and med healing, micro skills becomes very secondary for them. The theory about taking out healers 1st also doesn't work here. Knocking down their mechs 1st normal rewards me more often than going after their healers. Also spreading my units out keeps them from getting EMP splash and tank splash and thor splash (ya a sh*t load of splash that all deals high dmg), but that also strips away most of the focus fire. So what is left to do - MICRO MICRO MICRO I force myself to play heavy micro when playing against Ter. and click on whatever I can to get the units on to the tanks and thors and vikings. Always try to build quality over quantity when versing Ter., unlike against Zerg. Keeping units longer alive in battles is actually more beneficial to Toss than the other 2 race. Not only your new units can get to the fight faster with warps and replace your injured guys and let them regen shields a bit, but also Toss's stalkers is or if not the one of best single unit massing back up in a deadlock fight.
