    TF-620 Nomad Revealed on SC2.com

The Nomad has been officially released, along with some concepts and screenshots!

"The TF-620 Nomad is an all-around workhorse that combines the functions of light manufacturing center and observation post rolled into one. A common sight among the fringe-world colonies, the nomad is a robust, air-mobile vehicle built to operate independently in all but the harshest climates. Although the nomad shares a number of common traits with its smaller cousin, the SCV, the nomad is a far more specialized and advanced engineering craft.

Auto-Turret Nomads are normally employed for first-line colony surveillance and protection duties against dangerous local life forms or climate events. These vehicles boast an impressive array of sensors delicate enough to detect even cloaked or burrowed enemies. By deploying its two aft-mounted nano-welders, the nomad can construct a variety of small, semi-permanent defensive structures to meet various threats in a matter of moments.

Several standard template constructions are available to the nomad, a popular example being the auto turret. This simple robot gun emplacement is suitable for driving off smaller hostile life forms for an extended period of time.

The Terran Dominion initially provided nomads to give low-level protection to its most isolated outposts, typically manning them with local civilians as something akin to a volunteer fire truck or ambulance service. Over time the military support applications of the nomad have seen it deployed in escalating levels of conflict, gradually replacing the older and vastly costlier science vessel."

OMG finally an update! On SCII (eu) it isn't on yet, but I am gonna check us for the screenshots :)
Finally, we know that a flying spellcaster is in..
I think this unit idea is very nice, it looks awesome when it is creating the turrets, I think it will have other abilities too... Somewhere I heard it will be able to repair air units.. (So it really is the elder brother of the SCV, only more developed :) )

Am I the only one who likes the lights on it? Think it looks there really good for a detector ship..

Sounds like it can build more than just auto turrets. It also seems like the turrets expire and "disappear" after some time, like broodlings and hallucinations.

That was obvious I think, but I think they will last long, so that you can build up other, perament defences. Actually I just think about how they will solve the "disappearing" It's battery goes empty? Or gets short-circuited?

To be honest... I am over it. I am starting to think that it looks just fine.
The golden details (about half the Nomad :p) feels a little out of place though.
They should switch it to bronze, perhaps?

    Re: NOMAD RELEASED

Having read the whole profile of it at sc2.com, my verdict:
    • it is as ugly as it used to be, though the working animation seems to justify the appearance
    • it moves too fast... you don't even need to have one nearby to detect units if you order it to move in time
    • no construction time for turrets... you can't be serious

This unit is by far the greatest phailure among officially released ones.

    Re: NOMAD RELEASED

The Thor in the Terran gameplay video had almost no build time either.
Remember, those clips are supposed to show us the units and abilities in action,
    not a boring contruction process.

I'll agree with Kuvasz about the animations, yet I see no problem with the other topics. I might have missed something, but what other abilities does the Nomad have? And can it repair units? (and other scv tasks)

    Re: NOMAD RELEASED

release the predator on sc2 .com! bring it back.

semi permanent? turret? variety.. maybe the nomad can transform into an ion cannon. that would be nice.

    still looks bad.

why not change the model? maybe blizzard has already made a cinematic for this ugly nomad and they dont wanna mess that up.

I hope that that isn't just lorewise or something. If Nomads actually will be cheap, Terrans might have vision/detection anywere. Nomads, Sensor Towers, flares, and scanner sweeps will make Terrans lie one step ahead.

It will probably dissipate after a timer, like most summons in WC 3.

i think semi-permanent means that it slowly loses hp but can be repaired

On the other thought....Yeah I bet it has a life-time like the broodling in sc. But I think the turrets could be also salvaged back into the nomad?
