    Hey guys,

Since Blizzard is forcing Terran into mech and I'm a Terran player, I'd like to embrace the new build.

I'm just wondering what mech units are best against each race,

i.e. What would you typically build against Terran, Zerg or Protoss?

e.g. Vikings in TvT and Hellions and siege in TvZ (or whatever ;))

I know it does depend obviously on what build your opponent is going, but in general what works best?

Vs terran i'd say Banshees, Siege tanks and thors are what have been used the most here.

Vs Zerg I'd say you could go 4-5 thors and maybe 10 hellions, and a viking or two. I follow this korean type of play. Although get thors only if you're "into" them, or if your opponent has mutas.. they're highly immobile unless used with medivac. When I go MM vs zerg I always bring two siege tanks though in the back as well.

Vs Protoss I haven't really mech'd. I usually go MMM + ghost and viking and stim/EMP my way to victory.. collosi get to taste rockets from a viking in the distance.

But seriously.. I don't think there is any definition of "normal" builds...
Literally anything can work in beta at the moment.

Blizzard is not trying to make you go all mech, they are not meant to be massed as they are generally very situational/fragile for their relative costs. You might be able to get away with massing thors if you live that long, but you will probably get ripped up by whatever they have been saving for at that point.

Tanks - huge gas cost, very little hp

Hellion - very little hp, minimal use except scouting and against light (useful vs zergling/baneling army)

Thor - extremely slow, totally destroyed by immortals, ineffective versus mass zerglings/marines.

Keep in mind that everything is relative, so if you see thors doing well in a certain situation try to think, would siege tanks do that same thing better?

no single build is guaranteed, but hellion+thor is pretty decent. thor has air covered, good heavy ground damage, and hellions take out the light massed units, which are thor's weakness.

seige tank + hellion also works pretty well, if you KNOW your opponent doesn't have air.

the key to any game is to make sure you have a good mix of units, though. early hellion-worker snipe might work against protoss and zerg.

I usually use my hellions to devastate econ on protoss and zerg (always making sure to get enough thors up to break their mutas), and get a lot of sieges and thors for terrans. I started using mech this weekend and worked great, but I usually pick and choose what im gonna mass depending on the situation. Mech performs rather poorly towards toss so I usually only get hellions to get some quick econ damage for them.
