Starcraft 2 is new and all the replays I've seen of Terran players going Marine & Marauders and that is driving me crazy! Terran in SC2 is way better in Mech and it is easy to tech up fast. I have uploaded a few fpvods of build orders. Please watch and test them out against human players if you can. p.s. I don't have beta key TvT / TvP: 16/19 Mech: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81ZMtcNfsvk TvZ: Viking Tech: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWuYTjpU-Fc
I personally don't think I'll be jumping on these builds right away, but that's just because I'm not one for risking a super-early tech build when you don't have to. However, this is a very strong mid-game build. If you can pull the build order correctly it should be very effective. Except against early muta. It's also not that great an idea in a 2v2. Can't leave your partner out in the cold for too long. I should also note, where the hell are the rushes from those AI players? In the second vid your choke is open for like an hour... ... Yeah there is no way either of these builds are practical. :-\
I play AI as well and I find they pretty much rush every game. I'm not sure if this was set to super easy or what, but simply teching asap will never work against the AI, you have to get out units - and fast. I think the MM is a bit overplayed, but it's great for early game and if you successfully defend a big rush, you can overrun your opponent to win early. I think after an initial defended rush or early infantry assault, THEN you should grab your natural expo and start teching to mech, if you don't want to play infantry. Teching asap will not really work unless you have scouted well enough to KNOW your opponent is just focusing on mech/economy. But even in that case if you know he's focusing tech you should be surprise rushing him for an easy win. I have to agree with Joneagle here. Guys please tell me if you disagree with something I've said, I def have a lot to learn and am open to being torn apart
Nothing wrong with HDstarcraft's vids. I personally think he does some of the best SC2 commentaries. Just because some people didn't listen to his contest rules doesn't mean you should hate him.
Thanks for the feedback guys, appreciate it. Can't wait for the retail version to get out before I test them out more. Anyway, AI level setting is set to insane, but apparently they're still too stupid.
ultimately, it doesn't matter what AI difficulty setting it is. The main point is to note the timing at which you can get your 1st tech units out. Check out other human replays and unless it's a 1v1 map/or when you get scouted early, there is usually hardly any pressure put on that early(Sometimes in 1v1 maps too).
