System specs not good enough to run starcraft on low?

So I recently got starcraft II knowing my computer is not exactly the best computer to play it with. However, all I want to do is play starcraft 2 with the lowest graphics possible. I want it to run smoothly on low graphics no matter how much is going on in a game, and I'm willing to upgrade my computer to achieve this goal. I don't know that much about computer hardware and I don't know what to upgrade so that I can make starcraft 2 playable cheaply. Again, I don't care about graphics, I just want it to run smoothly on the lowest possible graphics settings, which it cannot do right now.

    Here are my system specs:
    Dell Dimension XPS Gen 2
Windows xp professional service pack 2
    1.00 Gb of RAM
3.00 gigahertz intel Pentium 4 Processor, 8 kb primary memory cache and 512 kb secondary memory cache
    Bus Clock: 800 megahertz
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200

Right now, I think I just need more RAM, but I honestly don't know. Could anyone give me some advice?

Unfortunately, your system's a bit too old and upgrading isn't really a smart option at this point. You'll just be paying a premium for outdated tech. You're better off building/buying a replacement.

I'm going to get a computer in about 6 months, but I want to play starcraft now... I'm willing to spend a little bit of money just to play starcraft until I get the new computer, all I want to know is if I do something like buy half a gig of RAM for my computer will I be able to run starcraft 2 smoothly on the lowest settings?

    I have 4 GB RAM,
    core 2 duo, 2.0 ghz
my graphics is about the same as yours (intel graphics 4500)

lets just say i can barely get by with lowest setting ;)
anyways, i understand your rush...but its much more sensible to wait.

According to Blizzard, your CPU and RAM are okay but your graphics card isn't good enough. But considering that even people with very high end computers have problems, you should really wait, as suggested.
