Suggestion: Custom Hero Units

I've noticed that in some of the more recent RTS games I've played there was an option to create a hero unit of your own, usually based off of an existing hero unit in game. I figured Starcraft II would be an excellent candidate for such an option and would allow further personalization in the gaming experience.

For obvious reasons the option to use a custom hero unit should be limited to single player skirmishes and special multiplayer battles, like in the aforementioned recent RTS games. Each faction could each receive a set of classes to choose from as a palette, set stats, choose abilities with limited points in a talent tree specific for each class, give a name, and, if it's in-depth enough, choose from some aesthetic options like weapons and armor pieces without compromising it's over-all appearance as a distinct hero unit.

I'd like to hear your opinions on the topic and hope that you could, perhaps, add on to my idea.
    - Thank you for your attention.

This will probably be available through the map maker or in the campaign but to further distinction and for balance reasons normal multiplayer will not have heros, custom heros or any of the like.

Yea this can be done through the map editor, but Blizzard stated a while ago that hero's will not be available in multiplayer.
Mostly to separate it from Warcraft, and maintain the same feel of SC. Hero's change the game play dynamic entirely. WC3, for example, is all about heroes. A good hero can make or break a game hands down.

But never fear! Games like DoTA will allow you to hero it up! Creating custom heroes will be made possible by the editor.
