This is a thread to be posted in the storyline board.

Remember the storyline of Brood War how Kerrigan fu**** everybody, all the Terran heroes (Mengsk and Raynor) and even the Protoss (Zeratul, Artanis and Raszagal).
I am reproaching those last ones to have been treased by her and been so naive to trust her. We can understand that Terran have been naive and treased by Kerrigan because of their human weaknesses in their mind. They can be easily manipulated. But the Protoss ... no !!
The judicator Aldaris knew that Kerrigan was a treator and lost his life because fo it.
But Protoss are a high advanced race. How could they have been manipulated so easily by a ridiculous creature as Kerrigan, may she be a Zerg or a Terran. They have been manipulated as we manipulate humans. With talk !
Of course at the end Zeratul had to follow Kerrigan if he hoped to bring Raszagal back.

Protoss have superpowers. They can also read in the mentalities. They couldn't see the real ambitions of Kerrigan. Anyway their "stupidity" is not forgivable. They are mighty Protoss, and I don't understand why and how they can have such weak and manipulable minds as human beings.

Well, the main difference between the protoss and terran minds is their mental communication within the species itself. They are slightly smarter, but not much, a smart human is smarter then an average protoss. Most protoss can't read the minds of non-protoss, and seeing how powerful kerrigan is and was, she should have been able to block any attempt. Most protoss are psionically stronger then ghosts, but they are still only experienced with reading protoss minds.

If Kerrigan was a Protoss and had the same bad ambitions than the actual Kerrigan the Protoss heroes would have known her real goals, and would have prevent her from doing evil. I know she wouldn't have tried to. they would have read inside her mind. Or maybe not if she had a powerful Protoss mind.
The Protoss react and live as human beings. I believed that even an average Protoss is more intelligent than a human. See the brain scan of the Protoss in the menu of the solo campaign. Protoss has a huge brain. What about smart, I don't know. Kerrigan is smart, and she got what she wanted. Is she more intelligent than a Protoss ? We don't know. But she is smarter.
    Thanks for your reply.

SOGEKING does not work as a taxi driver anymore so he has less contact with English speaking persons, so he is losing his knowledge in this language. Maybe you can help him know where he made some mistakes. Thank you to have defending him.

The protoss aren't used to deception.

The Templar Caste and Khalai Caste come from an open society where lying is difficult due to the Khala.

The Judicator Caste, by contrast, manipulates other protoss all the time. (Aldaris could recognize Kerrigan's manipulation because "it takes a bastard to recognize a bastard".) It even mentions this in the Brood War manual (in the dark archon Mind Control section, it mentions how the Judicator Caste used psionics to manipulate other protoss, but this wasn't as strong as Mind Control).

The Dark Templar would be less vulnerable to Kerrigan's lies, but by coopting Raszagal, she shielded herself.

Also Kerrigan was the only intelligent infested terran the protoss had encountered, so they didn't know how "evil" they tend to be, and they probably heard of what a hero Sarah Kerrigan was pre-infestation. When Infested Kerrigan claimed she had only done horrid things under the control of the Overmind, she was using her own (previously good) reputation to manipulate the protoss.

And since Infested Kerrigan is such a powerful psychic, I doubt any of those protoss could read her mind.

Still, there's a storyline hole. How the heck did Raynor trust Kerrigan after what happened on Shakuras? Did he get no news there at all?

    Great explanation ! Clear.
True, how could Raynor have trusted her after all ? You know Raynor is a moron. He still has feelings for Kerrigan, even if she was already infested. "Love is blind" dude.
Also I think that he wanted to see what Kerrigan wanted to make at the end. He said to Fenix that he didn't trust her but hoped that she could have changed her mind (after what she did when she was under the influence of The Overmind). He was curious to see what will follow. Curiosity is a bad default. He knew bad things will come but he trusted her anyway. Even if he said he didn't trust her I say he finally trusted her because he let her do what she wanted them (Raynor, Mengs, Fenix) to do against the UED.

Anyway I still persist to think that Protoss had to be more carreful on her. More means that they had not to follow any thing she said.

I would see how razagal got converted by kerrigan, since she has the mind controlling abilities of a cerebrate. Protoss aren't really all that different from Terrans when you think about it, both have general thought, emotion and free will, even though protoss need nothing almost as they need not breathe, eat or drink anything. I guess Razagal also simply gave in cause she was completely surrounded at the time, and lets face it, resisting when surrounded by a zerg brood (just assuming so) when alone is just plain idiotic, even if for a protoss.

You want to know why they trusted/worked with her? Because the plot said so XD

Actually working with her wasn't that stupid. The UED and their pet Overmind were a legitimate threat to all of them, and as the saying goes keep you friends close and your enemies closer. What deeply disappointed me was that they were so surprised that she'd betray them. They should have known the alliance would dissolve as soon as the UED were defeated, and they should have been prepared to strike first.

But then that would ruin the story wouldn't it ^_^

It could probably be explained by protoss psychology. Nerds, of which i am one, like to explain stuff like that to make a story flow. A lot of companies themselves try to explain it like that though, to stop 'annoying nerds' from whining. Protoss see each others emotions, unless blocked, so they probably aren't used to a non-protected creature lying.

Sorry, but Kerrigan has owned every significant Protoss character in SC. (Assuming the Novels count.)

Razsagal got mind raped. Tassadar and Zeratul both dueled her psionically and physically individually and at the same time, and both got owned and had to run like wimps.

Why they worked with her? Well they thought the UED and the Zerg together were a greater threat than the Dominion and Kerrigan's Zerg separate. But certainly; Kerrigan is anything but a pathetic creature.

    Every significant protoss character :)

And she outsmarted him in the early part of Brood War, then beat his forces in the last mission.

the reason kerrigan was able to manipulate everyone so damn easily wis because there wouldnt be a story if she didnt fill the big bad guy role.

but seriously, to humor lore fans, it's because she is an unusually powerful psychic, she's kinda like the lich king in a way where when she took over the entire zerg she became somewhat of all knowing and played everyone like puppets.

you should be more concerned with Samir Duran and wtf he's up to. . .

She isn't really that much stronger then most Ghosts.
The problem is that she managed to resist, and later completely remove the mental blocking thingy. Which if you look at it, was applied to keep pretty much every Ghost from getting the powers which she has now. (although she might still be a lot stronger)

Also, couldn't it be because Kerrigan is a mutant/half-protoss & half-zerg hybrid, so the Protoss can't recognize the mind of a creature they haven't experienced before? That could also be why they can recognize Protoss thoughts easily, and the Terran thoughts also, but not as easily?

Gabriel Tosh referred to her as "a legend amoungst ghosts" in Starcraft: Ghost Academy. . . but yeah the mental inhibitor probably had a lot to do with it

That's wrong. Pre-infestation, Kerrigan had a PI of at least 8, since she had telekinetic powers. (Compared to the average 5.5.) Kerrigan blew up her mother's brain at age 7 and had an inhibitor put in her head at age 8. Her inhibitor was actually removed eight years before the Great War, but she still had the ghost conditioning. She was able to throw people against a wall with telekinesis and then explode their head, but that took too long for a good combat move. (She did it to the guy who ordered an inhibitor put in her head, and she was more interested in inflicting pain than in quickly killing him. Also, they were alone, so she had time.)

You probably never read StarCraft: Uprising, that's why you don't know this.

(The novel Queen of Blades muddles the issue, making Kerrigan get a significant power-up post-infestation, even before she removes the conditioning. Despite the plot-relevance, the removal of conditioning didn't seem to power her up in the novel. Bad writing dude!)

No, you're wrong. Ghosts aren't tyke bombs. Also, read Collateral Damage. You'll see how an uninhibited "ghost" (Umojan shadowguard) has to go to great lengths to manipulate people, like planting doubt in their minds before they can play on it. (On the other hand, the effect lasted at least several days...)

Also, the Dominion doesn't use neural inhibor technology only more. While their ghosts are stronger psychically now, they still seem pretty bad at reading minds (think of the plot-wrecking!), and most can't use telekinesis (due to having a low PI).

It doesn't help that their portrayals are inconsistent in the lore. The ghost from Orientation is a hell of a lot weaker than Devon Starke (Dark Templar Saga, who had unusual powers) and the StarCraft comic (she kicked a lot of *** before being killed).

And it also doesn't help that most important ghosts we've seen are more powerful than the standard ghost. Colin Phash, for instance, has a PI of 7.5. Gestalt Zero (who is half protoss!) has a PI of 7+. Neither ever use telekinesis. (Brain exploding is probably telepathy; overloading the neurons.) Kerrigan was more powerful than the typical ghost pre-infestation, and Nova is a top-of-the-line psychic. So your impression of a "typical" ghost's powers are probably inaccurate.

wow, aurora, you just got nerd raged on ROFL, i hope i dont run into this guy in SC2 cuz he's gonna flip out when i dont build the right building at the right time. . .

look man, a lot of people havent read the novels. big deal, starcraft has only been non sequelized for like 12 years now?! me personally i enjoy the novels, its the best sequel i could get for the last decade. i have the starcraft archive (liberty's crusade, uprising, shadow of xelnaga AND speed of darkness), i, mengsk, nova, and queen of blades. i also have frontline 1-4 and ghost academy 1.

that leaves the dark templar trilogy and heaven's devils :)

see? i can uber nerd too :p
