Ok guys I have a major issue thats ruining the experience for me. I have heard of many people having lag issues even with great builds or after recently adding new hardware, no matter what the gfx settings are on. Here are my specs: 965 black 2x ati 4870 8g ddr2 750w antec psu antec 1200 case asus m4a7e So what happened was I upgraded from a 2.6ghz phenom2 to a 3.4ghz 965 blaxk and I could all of a sudden run any game style(3v3 mostly) without any sign of any sort of graphical interruption at all on ultra settings. I mean flawless. The difference was night and day. In this case the processor was the limiting factor. Well, I was running a xion 800w that crapped the bed during some of the hotter weather a couple of weeks ago. Not surprising. I then switched to the antec mentioned above in my current specs as well as the new antec case which runs super cool now. However, after the new psu, about halfway through the 3v3 battle, when people start gathering troops apperently, I start to get something I would not describe as lag but that ultimately ruins the experience. I would describe it as a "pulse": Fast, slower, fast, slower, fast, slower...etc. Very rythmic and quick. I set all my clocks to default and all the gfx settings on low, same thing. Tried reinstalling game and gfx drivers, nothing. On the other hand, crysis still runs flawless at 40 fps on ultra, modern warfare, same, tf2, of course, arkham asylum, no problem. Even movies and web browsing are faster smoother than before if anything. Nothing else is affected. What happened. I can play sc2 still but the pulsating is breaking my soul, what else can I try. Thanks
There's some weird copy protection in SC2 and on a few people's computers it causes real problems and crashes and on others stuttering, freeze/unfreeze lag. I had this since beta and then my bios battery died and it MASSIVELY improved the problem. Its still there, buts its playable where it wasn't before. So try resetting your bios and if that doesn't work, try actually removing the battery and putting it back in. (Google a guide)
A few questions before the obligatory "please post a dxdiag." What is the model of your motherboard. Please post the full model number, m4a7e does not exist (M4A78 maybe? also post anything like M3A78-EM if it has an extension like that. Type the whole thing right off the box if you can). Also, post a dxdiag so I can see the driver setup. To run dxdiag=> Windows_logo_key+r, dxdiag. If you have 64-bit windows, click the button at the button that says "Run 64-bit DxDiag," Then save all the data by clicking "Save All Information..." zip/rar the text file and attach it to the post. Instructions on how to zip here. To create a rar file, first download and install winRAR then read this guide here.
The M4A78-E (no wonder I couldn't find it, you forgot the dash @_@) Holy massive BIOS updates Batman! This board has had over 20 since launch!? 20 BIOS updates, seriously WTF. Anyway, I'll wait for the DXDiag until I move on further. I hope it won't take me too long to get back to you, since I am netless and carless at home right now. -_-
Damn, Ive tried to update my motherboard bios and found it difficult. Ive only tried once however. If I update the drivers taking out the battery wont make a difference right, the new bios will always stay. is this correct? Ill be home in an hour im going to get you my drive info. First im going to try resetting my modem and bios. Ive also had problems with usb ports that no longer work and the "power sw" prong that does not accept my new case( I have to hard wire from the old case's power sw cord which is quite funny). This all may be tied together somehow.
