    Background:

    I was playing Terran.
    Opponent was playing Protoss.
Silver League, 20th in division. Even match.

    Starting Game:

When I'm building my first Supply Depot, his probe steals both my geysers with Assimilators.
I put down 2x Barracks almost simultaneously and finish the block with Supply Depot #2.
Marines start coming out and I have a squad of 6x by the time the second Assimilator drops.
I retake both geysers the moment each one goes down and throw down two more barracks.

    Early Game:
I immediately move out with the 6x Marines and march across the Steppes.
Opponent has done a 4-gateway with a cybernetics core.
I kill a zealot and have to retreat out with the newly warped units.
When returning home I take out the proxy pylon at the base of my big wide ramp.
I throw down more barracks for a total of 6x and an Engineering Bay.
I head out with a small force of Marines & Marauders with all 3 tech-lab upgrades.

    Mid Game:
I encounter the proxy trying to be re-established along with a photon cannon.
I do some micro and kiting, he warps in Stalkers and Zealots and Sentries.
3 or 4 skirmishes later I take out the last of the proxy photon contain.

    Late(sorta) Game:
Immediately, I move across the steppes with several Marines & Marauders.
I attrition my way past the 4-gate choke thanks to the 6x barracks at home.
I'm making a factory just to get 2x Reactor-Starports and finally an expansion.
Upon penetrating his base further, I see a Robotics Facility making Immortals.
I also spot two Stargates, not producing anything since I was already in the base attacking.

Opponent kindly GG's and leaves. I had wanted to ask him what his strategy was before he left.

Instead, I'm asking the question here. What's the end-goal of the Protoss player's Strategy?

I had thought that by stealing my early-gas and forcing me into a Barracks-only, mineral-heavy build, along with the proxy contain, that his purpose was to force me into an army composition
that would get wrecked by Collossus. I was confused by the Stargates because Void Rays and Phoenixes would get taken down by the (relatively) heavy concentration of Marines.

Thanks in advance for your help.

if he is stealing both your gases, that automatically sets him back a tad. You guys were evened out, you have no gas, he has less minerals. for him to tech to colossus he would need to have a give enough army to protect himself from your marines. You cannot build a colossus by himself.

also you should have sent your 6 squad marines to his base instead of taking down his assimilators, because he would have maximum 3 zealot.

Well... The protoss player isn't really making any sense. The whole point of stealing someones gas, is to delay them higher tech units. So if your Zerg, you can only get zerglings, and if your Terran, marines. He should of teched up faster, and moved out quicker. Another thing that doesn't make sense, is why he got immortals, he must not of known you had those units, probably assuming you got tanks or something.

My best guess is he was trying to get void rays to go around and take out some buildings. That's all I can really think of.

The double gas steal would stop you from getting higher tech easily. Maybe he was hoping you would wait until you'd get you belated higher tech/it'd slow you down for long enough that his first attempt to cannon contain you (the proxy pylon you found without the cannons) would be up in time to contain you.

You'd then be forced to tech to tanks, which he was making Immortals to counter.

Once you were contained, he'd end it with void rays.

I could see it working. Especially with lower division players that aren't very aggressive or freak out easily. The double steal might throw them off. You pretty much did what he couldn't have you do. Scout the cannon contain and destroy it allowing you to attack his poorly defended base.

no1 steals double gas at beginning in plat/diamond league, re-stealing yes, but not stealing both right off the bat, crucial 150 minerals right there, its as if you were afk for the first 1min of the game
