So, whaddya think, will SCII be balanced enough (or the Koreans crazy enough) for there StarLeague to continue?

    Who will be the legend?

I hope Blizzard does a good job, and with SC at patch 1.16.1, and WC at 1.22, they show enough support to properly maintain and balance a game.

I'm sure it may make the transition. They'll play it and see if they like it, if enough pros are there then they'll be more then happy it have it take over.

Not at release but maybe after a few years of patches (i mean the balance thing).

    Yes it probably should survive.

I love this game but it could never be my job. I would feel like I was wasting my life. And I would be wasting my life.

    Stereotypes...

Anyway: I doubt that pro players -the ones that get paid- switch to SC2, then the tv shows will do so as well. I just doubt it can survive for long if everybody sticks with the original.

I believe both SC1 and SC2 will have their own separate leagues. The pros in SC1 will not be able to translate their skills onto SC2.

However, I think that SC2 will be heavily marketed compared to SC1. There will be two different leagues of course but due to the market, SC2 will have a much bigger fanbase.

Well, 'they' also marketed Counter-Strike: Source. Look what happened. The original prevailed without a problem, at least the first few years.

I think that are right with the seperate leagues thing, but there can only be one winner. -in lack of a better term-

IMO its clear what Blizzard pretend is to make StarLeague move to SC2. That can be seen in all the declarations made about "SC2 being the ultimate fast-paced RTS game" and in all the work being done into b.net 2.0 and their supposed improved competitive ladder system.

Cs1.6 > source. Source's gameplay is screwed somewhere... like, the players walk too slowly.

I find it weird valve couldn't fix this in a patch, because movement is definitely the problem. It's not that you move slower at top speed, it's that you accelerate slower. Popping out and back behind cover takes twice as long as it should.

Yes, Source seems to have SOMETHING wrong that was always bugging me...

    1.6 feels more... fluid.

Those SC1 korean boys will probably adjust to SC2 coz they cant just sit there and dont go with the flow eh?? Besides, everything in SC1 is technically all in SC2 besides some stuffs like stacking and others..... Im guestimating that 80% of SC1 pros will move to SC2... maybe its just my asian intuition lol

What about the effects of the trilogy? I mean today SC1 is very static game, virtually nothing changes and patches are rare but SC2 will have (at least) 2 expansions in relatively short intervals which will each change the game dynamics significantly (at least as far as pro games do) and Id guess that patches/fixes/balancing will happen much more often shifting the dynamics constantly. Appart from some obvious positive effects wont it also discourage a lot of the attention away from making it the top game on pros list?

    but... but... but... MBS!!!! Autocast!!!

anyways, in all seriousness, i think most of the players will be able to make the jump. starcrat 1 and 2 will provide a very similar foundation. 2-resource management, precise micromanagement, hard counters, etc. things probably won't "settle down" until both expansions are out.
