The new custom maps from Blizzard are here! Check this page for more info. This thread is dedicated to StarJeweled, easily the most awesome custom map. Here's a teaser if you are not familiar with the map: I intend to have this thread as a general discussion of the game and a buffer for random thoughts and brainstorming to keep the feedback thread clean and orderly. I'd like to hear what combos you people tried and how it went, tactics, opinions, etc. And whether you like it as much as I do So we could have our little knowledge base here and hopefully improve and rule in the game. Something that works extremely well is after a little advancement towards your opponents you start saving up all your energy, both of you, and then as soon as you hit 1000 energy you release 4 banshees each. Then you start matching like mad and use storms exclusively, to clear out marines/hydras/mutas, since all these 3 (hydras to a slightly lesser degree) fall very easily to it. The proper counter to this is probably to start saving up yourself (when you see you're advancing and you don't see any special units) and release mutas. Another tactic that I thought worked well was to focus on colossi and gem matching (preferably releasing them in pairs). Energy will allow you to stun ultras until marines take them out and heal colossi and your marines against air. A more general tip: do not constantly use up all your energy. Stunning is invaluable both in protecting your units and buying you time to prepare the appropriate counter. Obviously for optimal team work (no duplication of abilities, avoiding overlapping unit compositions) you should have your team mate on Skype as well as know everything about the game (e.g., tanks outrange everything so they're good support, especially with time bombs). Also note that psi storm damages your own units and that you should always cast them in a way that the target units are towards the upper perimeter. Don't forget to check your units' health and judge how soon the targets will probably advance forward. :twitcy:
Game lasts too long since it's a Bo5, and each round can easily last 20+ minutes. After the second round, I notice my concentration start to slip. I do think it's an interesting map due to the various units and abilities you can use.
The mods have been released with their respective achievements, get to it people! Just note that if you get achievements and/or set a reward portrait you won't be able to log in to battle.net, though I'm sure they're aware of this and are working on a fix already.
