I think the old model looked more practical.

I am a fan of the original model. However, like you said, it could look different in the final build.

The old one looked like a floating shipping dock/cargo ship.

This one looks like it has the aerodynamics sorta thing going on.

 

I've always liked the old model. Emplifies the fact that Terran are not fully polished hugely expensive futuristic space humans like Star Wars people.

 

hey its still a good thing. exaggeration of terran being space trash and all is a bad thing. all i can say is that there is more to the terran that what we have always known them to be in sc1.

IMO and as far as sc2 is concern the terran in sc1 was not good enough lorewise from the 'the tank in the ambush' and alien movie inspired settings and other so many flaws. fortunately they look hardcore sci fi now in sc2. ^^

The old one had a "build" animation, I know the new model shown here is not .. perfect but I can't get the idea how the new one will build

 

my opinion....meh-meh. good and bad..i dno..lol, we would have to wait.
dammit i hate it how blizzard makes a ugly unit grow on you and then they change it..ohhwells this new model will probably grow on me.

Yep, the old model was starting to fit it well, with those mobile things. And it was so odd that it fit a role like his. This one seems like a Science Vessel. I don't know how can I prefer the previous model over this one, but I do. Perhaps style>beauty would explain it better, as this one reminds me of a zeppelin. It doesn't have a functional look.

I'm making a long post mostly because I'm amazing myself with the fact that I prefer the older one, and I have to try and explain this somehow. Instead of being functional, this new model seems trapped inside the circular structures, which is awkward considering it can repair others while on air and build turrets. Where's the mobility? And I think also that the "zeppelin" concept belongs to the Overlord, overlapping in looks and feel of a floating thing.

How would I do it:
If I were on their shoes, and I was sticking with the new look, I would certainly get rid of most of these circles and give it some "spikes". Appendixes and odd things sticking out like lenses or welding apparatus. They could even be symmetrical and clean looking, that would still work for me. And about the repeating Zeppelin concept I would add something running through the structure to show that it is hard and not a balloon full of air, although looking like having a similar shadow.

OR, just get back to the old model since it has been so well adapted to the Nomad's role.

HAHAHA! To be honest, this new model looks cool and all but it doesn't look practical. We'll see how it goes.

 

Yeah, this looks more like a remodeling of the Science Vessel, not the Nomad.
i can't see it contruct things ATM.
Maybe they should reinstate the Vessel (if they use this new design)? The Queen fits more like the defensive structure constructer (I am not saying they overlap though ).

 

this new model looks more like a protoss ship, while the older one lookes like a five year old with legos designed ot. IMO they should make a fusion of the two to keep it away from protoss designs but also stop it from being a five year olds lego collection
