I loved the original soundtrack from starcraft, can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xjbTVQL0g8 Now, I was strolling along youtube to see if there was any new starcraft2 soundtracks and I found one, which in my opinion is not related to the game, it reminds me of the game Fable from the X-Box. Its alright but it doesn't fit with the game. The so called 'New' can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38SzPFx03PA I loved starcraft for the gameplay and half of it was for the music, if Blizzard is going to make new music for starcraft they should atleast add in the old because I think it just fits in the game, the new starcraft2 soundtrack? No, throw it in the trash now. Or atleast make new music similar to the old music. you decide. Fans or money, and fans leads to money.
i don't think it should be between them. sure, this is really different, but i think you're letting nostalgia get in the way of desicion making. You don't want a 'new' starcraft game, you want an extension of the old, which isn't happening. It's the basic evolution of the game world, better graphics, better music, better gameplay. It's how games evolve. If no one wanted to accept new soundtracks we'd still be hearing the shotty music of pacman games in the background. So yes, it's not like the old one, and it gives me a starwars kinds feel, but I really like it and I think anyone who plays the second will learn to love it, as well. So, even though it's different. try not to hate it right away because everyone has pre conceived notions of how the game will be and is upset when it's different. Personally,I really like the music.
I like it :/ Definitely reminescant of star wars, but i don't consider that a bad thing, probably not final product, but i wouldn't be disappointed if it made it in at all. The old music is just old, wouldn't fit starcraft 2, as Kurai said you're nostalgic over it.
Worry not, there will be remakes of the old nostaligc themes in stracraft 2 + rep for the person who finds that quote. Personally, i would relish the fact that they are making an entire set of new themes for the game, AND by the same person who did the originals, i cant wait to hear the atmospheric music they create for the climax... Or the sad music they create for when Jim dies. lol wut.
That was like a week ago and i forgot about it... Game music for me depends entirely on how it fits what's happening story or gameplay wise for me, it's not something i'm going to extract from a game and listen to it but is a huge plus when good music is used well, this isn't meant to be ingame so much as theme music i think, all races should atleast have different tracks to set the scene.

I always loved the Protoss soundtrack for Starcraft 1 the best, and the Terran one was kinda fun too.
