I still do not fully understand the league system. Am i automatically placed in a league when i start playing multiplayer or do i have to have a certain win/loss ratio to even make a league?
well u play ur 5 placment matches based on ur win and loss ratio APM and such it decides whear u belong if it places u in say gold leauge but the gold people are to good for u the system will notice and demote u to silver if u arent good enought for that it takes u down to bronze and if u win alot without losing it promotes you and such
No. You are unranked for your first 5 games of each game type (eg for your first 5 1v1 games, your first 2v2 games with a specific partner, etc). After 5 games you are assigned a league. After that, you might rise to another league, or even fall to another league. Please note that leagues are "broad" skill categories; see divisions below. Making matters complicated, the system will deliberately test you by occasionally throwing higher-ranking opponents at you. If you're gold league, all of a sudden you might face a few platinum league opponents. Each league has a number of divisions, with "subranks" of 1 (highest) to 100 (lowest). Terms such as "Silver League 25" give you a quick idea of how skilled you are compared to the population as a whole. This is like writing a test at school; if you scored an "A", you did well, but it's not really useful for the most highly skilled players (who would probably be doing extracurricular special exams for scholarships). This has led to some controversy, since your global rank compared to all other players is hidden. (Eg you can't tell if your skill level is 4 million out of 7 million, a figure useless to most players but very valuable to top players.) People who do well within a certain division (within the top 8 spots) will fight it out in end-of-season tournaments. This means people who do well even within a low league (eg Bronze) still have a chance to engage in this kind of competition. Blizzard will introduce a pro league for the really elite players. Only within the first 5 games. As long as the automated matchmaking system works properly, your win/loss ratio should always be close to 50% since the system is always trying to match you against people of the same skill level. As a result, your win ratio doesn't really mean anything.
