Why should we wait for fans to edit it when everything necessary is already being made available? They said unit models are going to be there. They might even spend some time integrating the old campaign the proper way, as well as the original races Battlenet multiplayer, as an optional mode of play.

Why shouldn't we have all these on the release day, why wait for fans to make them?

Because it would further delay the release date, and considering how a few fans are already contemplating assaulting their campus, it wouldn't be wise.

I can see the official SC set of campaigns coming soon after WOL though.

yeah, probably. I though about this a lot too, even for progames.. i mean, if the korean doods dont like sc2, they can tweek it to be sc1 again.
Maybe even disable mbs and automine if they want to. I think those last 2 should remain optional for bnet games

I doubt it would delay the release day. It would be minor work easily done alongside these last few months of developement.

Minor work? As in, doing all the maps, briefings, cinematics, sounds, models and portraits? You can't be serious.

Ya, if they decide to redo the cinematics, that will add several time to the release. Portraits and models should be done already.. except maybe for some heroes like Alexei or Fenix.
The maps and briefings should add around 1 - 2 months to release date.. And Im not sure It's worth it.

  7. This topic fails and a StarCraft remake is unnecessary. Stop being a graphics *****.

I have not seen ONE sequel that included a remake of the first one. Not one. I'm sorry, but, personally, I don't want to play StarCraft with upgraded specs.

    I want StarCraft 2.

I mean really, if you want to play the original then play the original. Personally while I like the graphics of SC2, the original graphics seems so classic, it just wouldn't be the same if they used the SC2 look. I'm sure it will only be a mater of a few weeks before player make the majority of the original anyways, as Blizzard seems to be making an effort make it easy.

  10. And because fans will do it is precisely why Blizzard shouldn't do it. Why trade old content for new and better content that you can't get from another game.

I obviously think Blizzard making the remake is a good idea. Why?

    - there are elements in the original campaign that I feel should be refined; they can keep the cinematics to save time as far as I care; much more solid and refined than fans could make it; until they spend a year pondering, at least, and even then they can't make any voice acting.

    - the need for a Battlenet mode of Starcraft in the SC2 engine; official and bugless, not a custom map.

This, however, is the stuff of legend:D

Of course, they could wait and collect what fans make, then build upon it, but I would rather have it official to begin with, then see what happens. I'm sure there are improvements old employees have thought about for years and it's a pity not to take this chance !

Or we could just get the sequel, what we've all been waiting for, and discover some new things instead of revisiting.

Nothing, it's just that I'd rather have it's lovely looking sequel out to further the same old story we've been mucking around in for the last 10 years.

Yup. Anyway we'll have vultures and goliaths and whatnot on the sc2 single campaign so probably you won't miss the sc1 campaign at all.

We MIGHT have them, unless they have confirmed that old technology thing behind my back.

Well, I read in one of the interviews that some old units would definitely make it back to the Terran campaign. If im not mistaken, cause my memory might fail me, they said something like: ''Sc1 units will make a return at the campaign, like the wraith and the goliath'' They didn't say ALL the units would, but some will, and 99% sure those two will.

  19. From that interview, it looks like expecting a year development time on each product is a bit optimistic. Can't say I'm disappointed. The longer Blizzard gets to spend on developing StarCraft 2 the better the product will be.

I'm sure the modding community will have a SCI mod out very shortly after SCII's release. They said that the mod creator will include all of the original units. So there, that's a lot of work already taken care of by blizzard. I'm sure the stock SCII structures can be reused as SCI structures with changes to the values. It shouldn't be a big deal.

I would really like to see this. Replaying the original Terran campaign with the improved SCII engine and gameplay.
