CNN featured some videos about StarCraft in Korea! Watch them in the links below

    Enjoy! :good:

http://edition.cnn.com/video/#/video/tech/2007/10/17/intv.eosk.gaming.hahn.cnn?iref=videosearch - Interview with Jungwon Hahn, Managing Director of Blizzard Korea.

http://edition.cnn.com/video/#/video/tech/2007/10/17/intv.eosk.progaming.teams.lee.cnn?iref=videosearch - Interview with Daniel Lee, coach of Astro Team.

    http://edition.cnn.com/video/#/video/tech/2007/10/17/yoon.eok.eathlete.cnn?iref=videosearch - Footage about Korean Pro-Gaming.

P.S. There's a small commercial before launching video, so don't give up!

P.S.S. Links on other SC2 sites are redirecting wrong, these one works!

I noticed that right after seeing the first video. He's pretty on the ball when it comes to keeping things in order. I wonder how people became mods, helped create the site?

Isn't it terrible when internet slows. My college uses that T-1 connection but even it runs very slowly sometimes when thousands of people are using them. The Freshman building I'm living in uses a T-1 connection and there are over 500 of us on it at pretty much any given time.

For some reason the sound is off for me... can someone kindly summarise the videos for me?

Baiscly, SC came to korea when the businesses in korea were having issues and laying people off, with more free time, those with computers bought the game to pass the free time. Many grew to like it, and with many out of work, Blizzard had an easy time finding people to create competitions for people to play the game for money. It became a spectator sport for much of the population and the korean people who play the game like Boxer, are famous and almost considered a god to their people,

Does it annoy anyone else how... condescending that woman was?
"Oh you have a nutritionist do you? [How quaint]"
It's a sport, as much as CNN may like to put it down with their prejudices. The reporter in the first two knew very little about games in general, never mind Starcraft.
    Bah, good find anyways. =]

I have to say that I agree. She did seem a little quaint about it and ignorant about SC. She said the terran is the last of the human race, which it isn't, earth still exists and humans are more numerous than ever.

Also, I don't think a cook is the same thing as a nutritionist.

Well the reporter might have been slightly ignorant but the interviewees from the first two was so boring! The reporter was trying to get the conversation going and their response seems like they couldn't care any less. It just feeds the reputations that gamers are socially inept (which to some degree they are I suppose). Sad...could have been so much better.

She called Boxer a geek. The correct term would be "athlete".

Tribes! She has no idea on what she's talking about. Couldent they have used an interviewer who knew someting about the game, it can't be too hard.

Actually at the rate multimedia is taking over the time of teens (Namely the near to voting age) it would be stupid of them NOT to have anything on video games.

Guess your right, but all I ever see in news is how were lossing the war (bull!), presidential elections, and terrorist attacks. I've given up on news and don't watch it anymore. 8)

When CNN features news that relate to video games, you know that they have ran out of content for the time being.
