Well since there are plenty of Starcraft novels out there and no one has made a topic on it so I made one now Well first i want to discuss some parts of the novels like the Shadow of the Xel'naga, Firstborn (dark templar saga) which could mention some crucial info of the storyline of Starcraft 2 and the background info (e.g the blue thingie that flew out of the temple is it a hybrid or a creature left behind by the Xel'naga) (primitive protoss.. never thought the aeon of strife was a battle that primitve). And little stuff like lurkers attacking a firebat with claws in the novel "speed of darkness" which is interesting since it seems stupid lurkers can only attack underground while having these huge sharp claws to dig... Sry if this is in the wrong category no idea where to put it.
Hmm I've read most if not all of the official novels and I don't think there is anything that would offer any insight to the SC2 story. If you have any questions I will be happy to offer any insight I can.
actually i want to discuss the creature that came out of the temple in the shadow of the Xel'naga. Whats your ideas? A creature left behind by the Xel'naga to finish what they have started? Or possibly the surviving Xel'naga could have created a perfect species already which requires the purity of form and essence. More interesting idea is that this a hybrid. If it is... Duran was already planting those creatures over the worlds for a long time since Duke is still alive at the time of the novel.
Offcourse, do you think Duran planted those things between the day duked died and the day zeratul found out about them? I EDIT: HE was probably working on them before he even joined the UED.
I think it's safe to say the creature in Shadow was not a hybrid and has nothing to do with the main story. The "cocoon" the creature was in had been buried under rock on a harsh backwater panet for who knows how long. If Duran (whoever or whatever he is) had something to do with it seems to me there would have been equipment, workers, etc. instead of just an ancient relic. How Duran fits into the big picture is beyond me but I don't see any evidence connecting him to the events in Shadow of the Xel'naga.
To anyone who has read the novels rate them from best to worst, or what ones are essential reading (I would like to know which ones I should bother reading).
