StarCraft Map/Replay hosting site.

I have a really good website host just laying around, thanks Jonez!

I really want to create a new website that will have the functions that epicwar.com has for Warcraft 3 maps, but this time have it for starcraft, and possibley starcraft 2!

Features hopefully available:
- Fast map uploading!
- Fast replays uploading!
- Instant downloading, no waiting or ads!
- Free of any ads.
- Supportive forum with technical help on the maps/replays uploads.
- Categorised games.
- Descriptions.
- Ratings, etc.

If anyone would help me with this, I am looking for a co-founder!

Java, loads of HTML (easy), little PHP, but I got a great friend with loads of PHP knowledge

I would love to help with setting this up. I can use html and css to a pretty high level. However, you will really be needing a MySQL expert for this type of site. That is the only practical way to maintain a large online database.

Further, a large replay database will generate a huge amount of traffic. If you want it to be add-free, then you will have to invest a crapload of money, and never get anything out of it.
I would recommend using a system such as www.megagames.com uses. If you really want to do this, PM me. I will see what I can do for you.

Aurora, my friend "PHP wizz" helped me create a Online/Offline server status checker through PHP, MySQL, etc.

I am very fond as he does it for free and he is a great person.

Anyone else who wants to help, please, it's needed all the time! Even to get us noticed it's helping!

I can probably make you a template as soon as tomorrow, but what forum software will you be using? VB is obviously the best, but it will set you back about 150 bucks to get an unlimited licence and updates.

Anyway, VB has extremely good intergration and many easy database extensions already available. That would require a lot less programming, and guarantee that there will be no errors. So: let me know what format you want, and I will start working on a template.

 

At the moment we will start with either SMF or pbpMyForum thing. They both have excellent software, I am just wondering which one is safer.

Simple Machines forums has never let me down, although you have to do a few custom edits, I can do them! As long as we don't get donations, SMF it will have to be

Go to the site below. I have an account there as well. Just make an account, go to your software section and ask for a template. Just be sure to specify what you want, and make an introduction thread first. Those are mostly older people with a crapload of experience. Fill in and show your age, and they will direct you to the best templates they have. If you offer site linkage, somebody might even make you one. Sorry again, just totally forgot to make a template. Last time I was at the library, I had to do a lot of insurance stuff and job applications. My head was a bit filled with that. All the ones I want are overpriced, all the ones I want that are free have little things that make them look really ugly.

If all gones wrong, I'll end up making a forums style for the Starcraft 2 fansite thingo.

 

UPDATE! I've started on my own template! It's coming together SUPURB!

I'm setting it up off an old template which only lacks back images and actual new looks. (plus the image qualities are horrible, also I managed to change after AGES of tinkering, the website's logo to say Starcraft without the double II.)
