Do you think it will ever get as in depth as warcraft and diablo lore? I mean in comparison we really no absolutely nothing about the starcraft universe. Just the tid bits surrounding our favorite characters.

I would say we know enough about the planets and races. What else do you want to know?

If you're interested, you can buy a book about starcraft and read it.
There are manga comics too if you don't like reading.

LOL,... deep breath,.. IMO I dont wanna know about it, i say lets just get it over with and play the game, games are meant to be played, and only 5% is probably designated for getting crash courses on in-depths of the game...

Fact: 40% of people playing WC3 call it DoTA

Actually Diablo doesn't have that deep of a lore well yet.

Starcraft might have more than it.

I have read the SC books and I've tried to read the manga, but they just don't have that good of a storyline. Honestly, there really isn't much lore in the SC universe. Although you may be right about diablo, but still in comparison to Warcraft 3 it seems like the story behind SC isn't very solid as a lot of it is left to our interpretation. Then again we don't have a close up view of the SC universe.

The lore is actually one of the things Blizzard has said that Starcraft II should improve upon. For example, in the Terran campaign, the player will be able to explore the Hyperion (and other environments) to learn all kinds of tidbits that are not necessarily relevant to the plot. At the same time, the map room where the player picks missions describes selected planets in a significant amount of detail. It's safe to assume we will see similar things in the second two expansions.

I'd say Starcraft II definitely looks like it'll vastly expand the Starcraft lore - Jshep89 you'll probably be satisfied.

Dialbo barely has any lore; it was only recently that we found out the name of the world.
Warcraft was around longer then starcraft and starcraft has a decent amount of lore IN MY OPINION

Actually, there's a good amount of lore surrounding Diablo. I thought a lot of it was actually very interesting, and I liked a lot of the characters, especially in Diablo I. For example, Leoric's story. It was also cool in Diablo II how you actually fight Diablo again, but it actually "was" someone else.

there just isn't as much story in-game for diablo. the game is just kill-kill-kill. there's more lore coming from the manuals than the game itself.

In a sense, I also believe that knowing Diablos lore isnt much essential in playing that game. That world consists of supernatural creatures, and knowing its lore wouldnt benefit much the player unless it has something to do on how to defeat a specific enemy.

yeah, the story can pretty much be summed up as this:

before the first game: lots of stuff happens. horadrim mages seal up the three prime evils, putting them into soulstones, some kind of huge mage war is in there, some help from heaven.

Diablo I: Went to tristram. killed diablo.

outside of the game: diablo corrupts the hero, takes over his body.

DIablo II: we went east. we sailed east. killed meph. went to hell. killed diablo. went north. killed baal.

outside of the game: worldstone is destroyed, 20 years passed. probably lots more lore here.

Diablo III: i assume kill kill kill is the main story here.
