So, I've read from several sources that the LAN feature has been removed from StarCraft II to prevent piracy—so, for example, multiple people don't LAN with the same game. . . . In the original StarCraft, didn't Blizzard implement a feature (called "Install Spawn") specifically for that purpose? It allowed a single copy of the game to be installed on several computers for the purpose of LAN play. What is the purpose of not only removing that feature, but further limiting multi-player game play by completely disabling the ability for LAN play? Is there, perhaps, some petition or something we can put together? I'm assuming most people feel as strongly against this as I.
What Ursa said. Yes people feel the same way. No there is nothing you can do. Blizzard is putting out special editions for LAN tournaments. Play offline. I'm sorry.
There is a play as guest button in the beta. I'm wondering if it's like spawn copies for Bnet when the original host is present. I made a topic, but noone seemed to care. Otherwise, yup, old news. I heard they are making a Diablo 3 though.... What was that ghost ability in SC1..... oh yes, lockdown.
Honestly, i must admit that i don't care about the LAN-Feature. Only times i used it was back then when playing against my brother. Since i moved out of my familys home and live on my own now, i have no more use of the LAN-feature and furthermore apreciate the possibility to play via internet. Never really interested in LAN-Parties at all. Don't wanna take my PC to somewhere to play. And, last but not least, we all now that as soon as SC2 will hit the stores there will be a "inofficial patch" (aka "Crack") which will allow LAN for those who need it.....
im sure the lan crack version will be fine, if they wont do it offically, ppl will have to do it by themself and mass distribute it!
It will be more expensive, but you can achieve the same effect. 1. Get a wireless router. 2. Upgrade your Internet connection speed by calling your provider. 3. Each computer must have a wireless adapter receiver. 4. You need a unique copy of SC2 for each computer.
it may just be me but i think that they will still have LAN but theyre keeping it under wraps till the release mainly because they dont want anyone focusing on that what they want you focusing on is battle.net 2.0 im thinking this will be a little secret that will be there for when we get the game so heres hoping this is the case.
yeah i totally hope they don't end the lan feature cause thats all i really use to do and still do. but then again i do have a very fast internet connection, and all my friends have internet so i guess if we play together its just gonna have to be wif mics or something on ventrillo haha so hmm that was so good info thanks for posting this thread i never knew untill just now .
