Hello everyone. Since you might noticed, i'm new to SC2forums. So if i posted in a wrong category / there's already a thread for my problem, let me know, instead of yelling hate comments! Well, ok. Heres the problem. When i start the Campaign, my whole screen is bugging with black boxes, if you know what i mean. For an example. In the beginning of the campaign (spoiler?) there is a man, can't see who he is, but he drinks coffee or something. When he pours up the cup/glass, instead of showing a nice clean coffee, it shows a lot of blurry, "pixelistic" and black dots. If you don't understand what i mean, i'll show you this picture. I took the picture of a cup of coffee i think, with a fly walking around it. As you see, it leaves black spots. If you want additional information about my computer, i'll gladly give them to you. Ooh, by the way. I run most of my settings on medium. I can if i want to run the game on high quality. But then the game won't run as smooth as on medium. Thanks in advance!! //Jyrken

Ok. Good. Im on it Desktop: Hewlett-Packard Company (HP) Model: M9441sc Operation System: Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200, 2,3GHz Power Supply: I have a desktop, else i misunderstood the question. RAM: Samsung, DDR2, 400MHz, 4Gb Sound Card: Uh... I suppose: Realtek Semiconductor Corp. Vers. 6.00.0001.5657 Motherboard: Pegatron Corp. Model: Benicia Harddrive: No idea at all. If you need further information, simply ask Also, as you might noticed, im kind of noob at programming / lookup things //Jyrken
First, I am wondering if you have installed Service Pack 1 for Vista. This is a very important Service Pack and fixes a lot of issues with Vista. It would be available via Windows Update. Once that is installed (if its not), then download any other critical system patches you may need. After that... I would get the latest video card driver from nVidia, 258.96. 2nd, nVidia has a very crtical issue that is covered in my FAQ. Make sure you make the changes to variables.txt!! The 9500 GS may also benefit from using Rivatuner to max out the fan, but I really don't know. You also have a machine that uses a lot of Intel Hardware, so try their Software Update Utility and download updated drivers from them. The newest Realtek HD audio driver can be found here. The video driver is probably the #1 thing that needs updating, but the rest couldn't hurt.
Thank you!! It works! I did what you said, but i didn't upgrade my soundcard, because it were downloading at a speed of around 70kb/s. I thought i could give it a try and start Starcraft II up, and it worked! No black, pixelated squares! Thank you for your information again, good sir! //Jyrken
I had the same issue... as instructed updated the nvida drivers.. thats all i did and works great! Thanks
Hi, I was also having a very similar problem. The very first graphics of the campaign were just as the original poster said. I've tried updating my drivers, either they are already updated or for some reason the nvidia website is acting odd. I've used tried using the website to automatically look for any updates, but it just sits there saying that its still scanning etc., any ideas why this might be happening or if there is something else i can do? Also would freeing the space to the required 12GB help at all? cause i know i dont have 12GB of free space at the moment. Also the GeForce/ION Driver Release 256 link that you provided didn't work either, it said it wasn't compatible with my system or something like that
BlackSwan: Post a dxdiag dump. To run dxdiag=> Windows_logo_key+r, dxdiag. If you have 64-bit windows, click the button at the button that says "run 64-bit dxdiag," Then save all the data by clicking "save all information..." zip/rar the text file and attach it to the post. Instructions on how to zip here. To create a rar file, first download and install winRAR then read this guide here. This user had a laptop, so the link was to nVidia portable drivers. The dxdiag will help us understand what drivers you require.
Your video drivers are NOT up-to-date, they are a year old. This is where you get the newest driver for your laptop video. If that fails, you may have to look at modified drivers like laptopvideo2go. You somehow got 186.21 installed when the newest driver from Dell is 175.97... so I think the nVidia package should work.
Hey man, it worked. I can't thank you enough man, i don't know how i wasn't able to update my drivers before, but your help has definitely helped a lot. Thanks dude And scouring google and asking for help really does work =)
