Edit: From SC Legacy (i didnt get to play it yet sadly) StarCraft II was playable this past Friday and Saturday at ESL Finals 2009 for the Alpine region in Vienna, Austria. It was most likely the same build as from BlizzCon 2008. One of StarCraft Legacy's members, FoxSpirit, had the chance to play a few matches as Zerg. Here are some of his findings: The game's readability is pretty nice. It just takes getting used to all the new units. In person, I found this game to look very clean; I'm sure the final version will look awesome. I only played Zerg and lets just say...there are many, many units. It also doesn't hurt that you can now select 40 of your little Cracklings into one large group. Hatcheries have two rallypoints, one for Drones and one for the rest of the units. When you select multiple Hatcheries and hit the Larva button, all Larvae will be selected. Then each keystroke will mutate one Larva. Had a lot of fun in the first match, over-mined a lot, then pumped from five Hatcheries. Every minute there'd be 25 new units Queen now has something like Razor Swarm, basically a mobile Psi Storm with insects shredding units. Warp Rays kill buildings...fast. If you have no AA when they come, you better have multiple Expos, Banshees too - they are very, very strong. Six Banshees can wreak havoc. I never noticed this in the screenshots, but in person, you can feel that the game is much more zoomed out. 25 Lings + 10 Hydras only occupy a surprisingly small portion of the screen. For the gas mechanic, you had two nodes, which would occasionally run out of gas and then automatically shut down and refill after some time. It felt slightly odd, I'm not sure what they are trying to achieve with that. Units move in a blob, until they come to a corner... then the group tends to stretch out, sort of like in the original. But they'll fall back into that blob shape at the destination. StarCraft II was played on these Laptops during the event: Gamer's Republic G71V Intel® Quad Core QX9300 DDR2 800MHz SDRAM, 4GB Nvidia GeForce 9700M GT, with 512MB GDDR3 VRAM In addition, playboy1103 shot some cam footage of StarCraft II: Link: http://nz.youtube.com/watch?v=MuVgg...clegacy.com/showthread.php?t=253&goto=newpost Source: http://www.sclegacy.com/showthread.php?t=253&goto=newpost Enjoy, Seradin
the dual core should probably be enough. i have one and it can run CoD4 max graphics no problem. the loading times are just a Bit slower though.
WHY DOES EVERY VIDEO HAVE TO BE SUCH ****** QUALITY AND AT TERRIBLE ANGLES!!! I know that Blizzard doesn't allow straight camera angles at many conventions but really... hold the camera still and put it so that we can see what's going on.. Blizzard isn't doing themselves any service when they limit how these videos can be shown if they're going to get out anyways. Also, is it really that hard to get a decent camera that can make videos at something higher then 320x240. If it's bandwidth they need then.. damn.. bandwidth can't be that hard with all those free hosting servers out there. /end rant
I really want to see the Extractor morph, ever since BlizzCon 08 we've discovered it's got a new construction animation. Take advantage of those two Vespene geysers!! -Psi
i got a intel duo core chipset too and im afraid that i might have to buy a new laptop for this game... -Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express chipset Family Seradin i play cod4 too on pc..but i cant play on max settings though.... hit me up will play.
I am probably going to upgrade regardless of whether my current computer can handle it. By then, my current computer will be a couple years old, and therefore ancient.
my issue though, is my labtop only has a chipset for graphics, so it likely cont run the game, or only at lowest settings. Not sure how plausable it would be to replace a graphics card in a labtop either.
most new games are only dual core optimized. they never use more than 2 processor cores. intel still makes dual core processors with insane speeds because gamers want them and they work......awesome. sometimes having more than 2 cores just generates excessive heat because your never using more than 2.
^^ do you think i would be able to play SC2, with at least this Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express chipset Family? oh yea i got by the name of LAUGHING MAN on COD4 servers so.. yea
If it supports Pixel Shader 2.0 then you'll be able to play it. Although, I don't know how well since I haven't seen any benchmarks for those chipsets.
