The long-delayed StarCraft: Ghost plot will finally be seen... next summer. Plot elements will make it into StarCraft: Ghost: Spectres, which will tie into StarCraft II as well as the StarCraft: Ghost series. In addition, a key character in StarCraft II will appear in Spectres (as well as the StarCraft: Ghost: Academy graphic novel). Source: http://blizzplanet.com/news/2351/ Cheers!
I have never read any video game novels so I don't think I will read this one. My friend hated the Warcraft novels so I'm a little skeptical about Blizzard books.
It was a third-person shooter set in the StarCraft universe. It was "indefinitely postponed" about two years ago. Personally I think it's biggest fans were people who wanted more StarCraft storyline, but the gameplay was so different (and on a different platform!) that many StarCraft players wouldn't switch. At least we get to see the storyline now. More details at http://starcraft.wikia.com/wiki/StarCraft:_Ghost
I haven't read any of the novels, but I want to. Too bad they won't make Ghost into a video game, though. Looked like a bunch of fun, really.
I was rather looking foward to it. I doubt I'll read the book though, just get the plot points from Wikipedia or something.
Same never read the books and.or novelsm but yeah it looked great, but all those postponements kinda made it suck but yeah I was relly looking to playing it :/
from what i heard it was first being produced by a not blizzard company, got heavily talked about, was then given to blizzard because they had 'claims' on it, then blizzard put it on hold, for anywhere between(judging on how fast they make their games and or, make a game that relates to one of them) 5 years to the end of time.
Blizzard started it - the concept, the plot, everything. However, they didn't have the manpower to do it on their own (they were already working on Warcraft III, WoW and StarCraft II when they announced it, but the latter two were secret projects at the time). Due to this lack of manpower, Blizzard turned to Nihilistic Software, which worked on models, missions, etc. That eventually fell through (the rumor is that Nihilistic was involved in a power struggle with Blizzard), so Blizzard moved to Swingin' Ape Studios. Eventually they bought Swingin' Ape. however, the game had many problems and was "postponed" when they realized the new generations of console games would be out before Ghost came out. Blizzard has worked with other games before with and without problems. They worked with Saffire Entertainment for StarCraft: Brood War but I don't see people complaining about that. They also worked with other companies for Warcraft: Lord of the Clans but that deal fell apart. (They worked with a Russian art studio. Long distance + different language = problems!)
i've read al books , except i, mengsk and shadow hunters and ill get those soon and i most certainly will go to read this one
I've read all of the Blizzard novels (Excluding some of the WarCraft ones.), and I can voice for their quality. ESPECIALLY the trilogies for each of the series.. I really enjoyed those.
I was pretty hyped for SC:G when the second 3rd party studio took it over and revamped it. It had grown by leaps and bounds and the multiplayer was supposed to be great. It was going great again, then poof. Playing as units from all 3 races deathmatch style was going to be so much fun. Sigh, mebbe Nova will at least grace us with her presence in SC2.
personally I think not doing Starcraft: Ghost was a good business idea. It would have been flop in my oppinion. Not enough difference between it and other FPS/stealth games of it's time/the near future. Also, thier advertizing was pretty bad; using an attractive female as the main character. Her suit looked like it was designed to make her look like a pornstar, not an espionage/assassination specialist. A Ghost themed game would be pretty cool, but they took it in the wrong direction right from the start.
The suit is to attract a bigger audience. And there are quite a few differences between ghost and other FPS titles.
