Starcraft 2 was unveiled on the 21st of May .. 6 months ago exactly !!
this gives us an idea of progression speed and some clues about ETA SC2 release:

the revealing of new content will grow exponentially , so your math is kinda wrong, won't take till may 2009, trust me

It's been so long. But yet it seems so short.

 

Terrans have been introduced on the 3rd of August (less then 3 months), after that 8 units and 2 buildings had been revealed in protoss section..
That was during a nice event to please SC fans : Blizzcon.

Now it's been almost 4 months and 7 terran units and 2 terran buildings have been revelead.
There is a nice upcoming event to please SC fans : Christmas.

Plus we have this clue : The last update was about the story and lately Blizzard has not revealed many units...
So next update most likely has to be big !! My bet ?

Sc2 will not be coming out in 2009. It will be out possible late next year. who knows maybe next November or October but not 2008. But i got that gut feeling it diffidently wont be out 2009

Unfortunately, 100% published rarely = release.

 

I get a feeling it'll be released on April 1 or 9, exactly a decade after the first game.

 

While it would be nice to see it released exactly a decade after, I dont think it will happen that soon. It seems like it would need to be somewhat rused for a gimmick release date, you know? I mean, they don't even have the Zerg out yet. I know it's possible that they have them done, but unrealesed, but it just seems like it would be out too soon, and rushed. Just my two cents, though.

 

Maybe. But according to Blizzard the game's in it's alpha stage right now, which should mean that the Zerg should be at least playable as of right now. I'd expect them to take about 3 more months to polish everything up and balance the gameplay, then there would be the beta, which would be around a month long, and then it'll go gold.

 

Really? I hadn't known it was that far along. Hmm, it just may be then in that case. Mind you, I'd rather have a game that took a bit longer to release and was an instant classic, than a game that was released with a cool date, like a decasde after the first, and was just OK.

 

Same here. I don't really mind if SC2 takes five more years to come out (actually I do but you get the point) as long as it's amazing. I just think with the way Blizzard do their things, it could be very possible that it was released a decade after the first.

 

i think it can be done within 6 months, they got 100 man working on it

 

I thought they said they only had about 40 people working on it. Strange, but that was a long time ago.
