I don't think this works below gold or somewhere around there. People can just check the diplomacy tab and see that you're still there. That, coupled with the fact that you can lift off will make them suspicious and scour the map. I think you should play ladder more and develop some skills. You bought the game and still haven't done anything with it after 9 months.
