    A
German magazine was granted a visit with Blizzard Entertainment and has
released an article about its supposed system requirements. They seem a
bit high but they're in the general region of the article we have
posted on our site regarding the System Requirements we projected.

    Here's what the magazine suggested:

StarCraft 2 is at the moment at the alpha phase and it's
possible these could be final requirements. Of course it is, however,
possible that the system values could easily change before release of this game.

    Minumum Requirements

GFX: GeForce 7/8 Series or Radeon 1000/2000 with 256 MB RAM

    CPU: Pentium 4

    RAM: 1 GB

    Internet: ADSL 1 Mbit

    Recommended Requirements

GFX: GeForce 8000 or Radeon 2000 series with 512 MB RAM

CPU: Core 2 Duo or Athlon X2.

    RAM: 2 GB

    Internet: ADSL 3 Mbit

    Optimal Requirements

GFX: Geforce 9000er or Radeon 3000er Series

CPU: Core 2 Duo 3 GHz or Athlon X2

    RAM: 2GB with DualChannel mode

A bit high, surely, and I doubt these are anywhere near Blizzard official or approved. But hey, anything helps! Enjoy!

I think these are way off. For starters, a Pentium 4 can run at 1.3 GHz and also at 3.8 GHz, so they didn't even give an estimate by saying 'Pentium 4'. Secondly, it is bogus to say a 1mbit internet connection will be a minimum requirement simply because unitwise SC2 will have very similar communication requirements as SC1 because they have the same number of players and supply cap. SC1 can run on a 56k modem, SC2 will require no more than a 256k line, in my opinion.

But I must say these specs will give them the expected result. Namely, increased number of visitors.

I just made minimum on most of those stats. *Sigh*

I'm so out of date when it comes to computer knowledge; are those actually high stats? They're lower than Supreme Commander (no surprises there). C&C III required less RAM.

Argh! Those are too high for me! I'm going to have to spend some money if these are the final requirements.

Yeah, guys, I wouldn't worry much about this. I'm pretty sure these are bogus, but they come from a reputable source and we're running low on news.

I would say my estimates are still pretty valid. :D So stick with mine for now!

Blizzard themselves said that SC2 will require a 128 MB video card, not a 256.

If you can play BF2 on full with no lag, you can probably play any game in the next 10 years with full graphics. That's not a good thing on EAs optimization skills D:

Make a new thread if you want to debaate or w/e about that.

    Well I got a
    -NVIDIA Geforce 8800 GT
    -3.00 GB Ram
    -Intel (R) Core(TM) 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
    - Vista Home Premium

Should that be enough??? I'm worried about the co-operation between Vista and SC2 since Vista kinda has a lot of bugs, and its horrible and barely compatible with anything. Please reply, thank you.

Thats probably approaching overkill Rex. I expect to be able to run Sc2 and I only have a Pent 4 (2.8 Ghz) and a 128 mb video card. Whether or not I will be able to run it well is another subject entirely, you on the other hand should be fine. Also, considering the proliferation of Vista it is extremely likely that Blizzard will compensate for it so I wouldn't worry in that department either.

Funny how many people take these facts seriously despite being pointed out that they're gibberish.
