Starcraft 2 Release Date?

Very suddenly Best Buy, Circuit City and Gamestop have all listed Starcraft 2's release for December 03. With the Expo in Paris happening within a few days, its likely the official release and beta release will be announced. Time to start drooling with excitement!!!!

A 2008 release would be awesome but i'm very sceptical unless it comes directly from blizzard. But i guess we're going to find out anyway in a few days if this is true xD

 

Could just be a rumour or something that they each seemed to pick up on. Being released in December seems pretty premature.

 

Funny that it appeared on an internal SKU for each company five days before the Paris event...very strange.

 

Its a pity blizzard can't announce these things with a huge crazy build up or something (if this is the case) and just tell all the game companies a few days before since they'll obviously tell everyone .

The whole crowd at the paris conference should just remain totally silent IF they do announce it (and it is the 3rd of december) xD.

3 December seems a little rushed. However, early December is the optimal release date for such an anticipated game because of Christmas. So let's hope Blizzard pulls all its resources into SC2 and manages to finish it this year.

 

That seems very rushed, I doubt they'll get the balance and visuals by that time.

I doubt that's the release date, but I hope it is. As long as they have time to go through the beta, who gives a damn about minor balance and visual problems that remain? It's called patches. Every Blizzard game have had patches fixing glitches and balance issues after the release.

 

So Blizzard has already decided when the beta ends, and yet they haven't even finished the tech tree? I think not.

A release date for five months in the future just isn't realistic.

I think the sooner the better as long as the art and global balance is complete, they can readjust the detailed balance with patches like they did to SC1 anyway, let me play single playa!

Eh, no. I seriously doubt Blizzard would tell retailers when the release date is this far in advance, and trust them with it. Retailers put up placeholder preorder dates all the time. This is nothing new.

While this isn't a Blizzard example, when Nintendo announced the Wii Remote, the developers for several Wii titles were as shocked and amazed by it as anyone else. It is extremely possible to hide huge information from very central parties. Game retailers aren't even that central, as they don't need that much heads up before making shelfspace for a game.

 

I personally do believe that this is a realistic release date. They cant make us wait another year or two! This title has been too highly anticipated! Making us wait any more would be just cruel. >=\

We're already had this discussion about GameStop. They will put a random date on their games just to get you to order in advance. As far as the other two...

A December release date would be AWESOME - but I won't believe it until I hear it from Blizzard themselves.

 

I hate when companies do that, so they can have the earliest release date so someone will buy the game from THEIR store.

I'm not sure if this is even real, a lot of companies put a false date to boost sales.

I would say while the release date is efinetly false it is still probable. Assuming the beta starts less than a month after WWI that would give 3 months for beta testing and about another month for finishing touches or last minute testing depending on what is needed.
