Hope you enjoy Batch 14 of our StarCraft II Question & Answer sessions. I'm also pleased to announce that we've opened up StarCraft II Forums on the World of Warcraft Forums, to get even more discussion with fellow Blizzard fans!

Feel free to visit them at:
    http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/board.html?forumId=1793233&sid=1

In the upcoming weeks, I'm putting together a special Q&A specifically for our map editors, to help get you guys excited in creating UMS maps for our community!

Chat with Devs: The StarCraft II team is trying out what it would be like to have the Ghost as a Tier 1.5 unit without stealth, keeping the stealth ability as an upgrade at a later Tier.

This will be quite interesting since their snipe ability could provide much support to a group of Marines, picking off key units such as Medics, Templars, etc.

Again, give devs and me a w00t! if you are enjoying these Q&As!

    ---StarCraft II Q&A Batch 14---

    1) Will there be Vespean Gas deposits that yield better rates, the same as yellow crystals? (starcrafttwo.com)

It is very likely that there will be higher yield Vespean Gas deposits, though we are being very careful in balancing this, since gas collection is based on a more linear rate of collection (3 collectors) versus mineral collection.

    2) What happens if you initiate the warp-in of a Protoss Stalker but the pylon providing power is destroyed before warp-in completes?

If you lose the pylon providing power for the unit warping in, you will lose that unit, and the purchasing credits will likely be refunded.

    3) Could the Colossus be transported by the Phase Prism, since the Prism's crystal can turn any matter into energy? (mymym.com)

Yes, the new Phase Prism now transports by changing the unit they wish to transport into energy, which is stored in the Phase Prism for transport. This allows the Phase Prism to be able to transport even gigantic units such as the Colossus.

    4) What happens if a Terran Battlecruiser targets a Protoss Stalker with the Yamato Cannon but the Stalker blinks away before the shot is completed?

Currently, the shot from the Yamato Cannon will still track and hit the Protoss Stalker.

    5) Will Dark Templars be invisible when warping in, or susceptible to attack for a few seconds before it fades out?

No, currently the Dark Templar will be invisible the instant it begins to warp-in, though of course we are still testing this for balance as it makes the Dark Templar quite strong in back door drops.

    6) Do the bunkers have any visual indication as to whether or not they're occupied?

Currently the bunkers do not have any visual indications to whether it is occupied or not, but this is something we would like to change.

    ---End of Transmission---

Since the Colossus can now be transported, what about the Thors?
If the Thors cannot be transport, then that is going to be a huge weakness for them.

Sounds good. High yield vespene is pretty tight, and I am glad the Colossus can be transported in the Phase Prism. I wonder if the Thor is going to keep the significant weakness of being unable to cross islands and chasms.

Amazing. So there CAN be a colossus drop. Anyway since the colossus can cross al terrain but water its not THAT important.

The DT invisible while warping makes it extremely lethal, however id stick for a drop. Phase prisms can deploy an aura to teleport the DTS, but id rather just drop them. Or teleport a few plus dropping in 4 more.

Colossus drops eh? That's probably why they don't need the Reaver now.

DT keeping himself cloaked while warping is gonna be kickass.
Plus the Protoss having the ability to Transport Colossus, the Protoss is looking more and more attractive.

That suggests that there will be "some" kind of transportation mechanic for the Thor. Also I totally called that problem on the HY Vespene Gas.

Stealth Warp in for Dark Templars isn´t perfect, the Phase Prism/Pylon is not invisible. Still very dangerous though.

I'm quite please with the batch. And finally some good news about the colossus being able to be warped. I thought for the longest time that that was a weakness since the colossus can be attack by even air to air units. Now they can be warped. And I hope that the DT will stay cloak in warp in (hehehe). Finally some new news.

I wonder though. I suppose there is a differential time for warp in for the various units. Like zealots will warp in faster than say colossus. Anyone know this for sure?

You can't warp in a Colossus. You can only warp in Gateway units. Those include Zealots, Stalkers, Immortals, Dark Templars, High Templars, and the what I assume to be revamped soon Stasis Orb. If I am not mistaken, it takes a total of 5 second for every unit to be warped into battlefield. But after that, your warp-gate would go on a cooldown before they can warp-in another unit. That cooldown would be the unit that you warped in's build-time.

Speaking of Warping-in, warping-in High Templar is going to be cheap as heck. Warp-in 1 or 2, and storm the workers.
Then load it up with your Phase Prism and take off.

Although Warp-in is just one of the mechanic that Protoss is recieving in SC2, it offers so much variety in turns of strategy. Protoss is going to be awesome in SC2. :good:

The Thor is going to have liftoff capability. Now that they gave it to the Colossus, there's no reason to keep the Thor immobile any longer.

Hmmm, the Ghost thing is very interesting, but I like it. It will now be available early game to snipe HT and the likes. Then, you can upgrade it later for nuking, after all the infantry are no longer used. This is a huge buff to the ghost. Sniping made them useful, outside of nukes, but this just makes it convenient. My poor HT, they are already cowering....
