I've noticed from a lot of the screen shots that the buildings look really "clean", and I hope that they plan on making them look a little more rustic, or battle like, same with the troops. I don't think we want them to look perfect, we want them to look real, and real things don't look shiny and nice, they look used and abused and that's how things should be in this game.

Things that you have just build take a while to look used ;)

Most of the buildings we've seen are Protoss, and Protoss buildings have these wonderful plasma shields to protect them from weather and most battle-related ugliness. The Terran buildings on the other hand, while too pristine, just have ugly, chunky models. I hope they do something about them...

The Protoss building looks beyond awesome. I love their new shiny look. Makes them look very advanced.

As for the Terran, I think their Barracks and Factories need a bit of work. Looks too blocky.
As for the Command Centre, god I love it. Looks perfect IMHO. I also think the Missle Turret and Bunker looks beyond awesome too. And how these Terran buildings liftoff and land looks kick ass.

Just the Barracks and Factories needs a bit of rework. Everything else, I'm very impressed.

All the Protoss buildings are basically yellowish, they all have the same feel, the same feel, and the same air about it.

Terran buildings are a bit too silverish. They've probably deviced some technology or new materials or new construction methods that prevent buildings from rusting. In the combat though, if it's damaged, you can see the flame going up which is realistic enough.

I love Zerg structures anyway so no need to make any changes on it. Though I do feel the Lair looks better than the Hive. The blackness of the Lair makes it look more dominating than the brownish Hive.

Actually has anyone noticed that the Zerg Hive looks a lot like Protoss's Nexus?. They both have that basic shape. Shaped like a pyramid with pillars on the sides.

i think there working really hard on the zerg buildings, they ahve said that they want to make each reace even more distinctive, so the zerg will look the best by far.
imagine above the creep all the buildings are connected by little pipes and cobwebs sitting on them, with little critters walking around from building to building

Anyone remember the original look for Zerg buildings, that weird, sorta salmony coloured prime rib look? I like it, and I hope they go back to it.

The refinery sure does look good ;)

A lot of the structures look rather big on the screenshots I've seen. Were the screenshits enlarged or are the buildings really that big?

Actually I think those robotic arms only appear when the building is under construction. In the demo video, you can see the robotic arms when the SCVs are building the Missile Turrets (Y'know, before the entire area gets levelled by the Mothership)

Am I the only one that's terrified of the overall appearance of the game at this stage?

It looks nice and shiny and all, but maybe that's the problem?
One of the best things about SC was it's "grittyness" and now it just seems to be looking more like the funky colourful warcraft 3. I want SC2 to be unsmoothified! Perhaps the problem is it looks too childish... It doesn't look like a war-hardened age-old battlefield. The green grass in the leaked video i saw was so unbelievably green. It looked fake!

Maybe other people disagree, but i get the feeling that i might not be the only person worried about this...

yeah it's pretty bad. still too colorful and shiny and slightly hard to distinguish anything out of crazy battles lol but at least protoss isnt as colorful as what was portrayed in sc ghost (they were literally rainbow....well the pylons were lol) nor is it as perky as warcraft 3, and that it still moves fairly fast and crisp compared to most 3D rts (which is the beauty of starcraft!)

it dosnt matter waht it is, its waht it replaces, if it was supposed to be nice and pretty and stuff, why not have water.
