According to a Blizzard press release on Tuesday, StarCraft 2 has become the fastest-selling RTS game ever made, and has easily become 2010's biggest PC launch of the year. With 1.5 million copies sold in just the first 48 hours, it's clear that StarCraft 2 is a runaway success. Gamestop also released statements indicating that StarCraft 2 has been by and large their best-selling PC game of all time. Industry experts have adjusted their estimates of StarCraft 2 sales in 2010 to 6.5 million. That's just craziness! And even better, these estimates do not include sales in Korea or other areas outside North America. Sources: Blizzard.com, Gamasutra
Good. Ignroing the obvious "more buyers, more money, more production" for Blizzard, the more people that get into StarCraft 2 the more comeptition there will eventually be on Battle.net and the more popular eSports will be.
Starcraft 2 could have been a piece of crap and it woulda sold a million just because its Starcraft. Thankfully they worked hard to make it a good game. 60 million+ in sales first day... hows that for a game release.
Hey, its a game worth waiting for. And its f'ing eye candy. Good job on an amazing game Blizzard.
Analysts predict (3)50 million revenue and 150 million profit off 7 million sales from memory so go backwards from that. Edit:Meant 350 revenue....450 would be hard to get off 7 million sales haha
Oops that was meant to read 350 million revenue. Well blizz has said development was 100 million and advertising and distribution should be close to that figure as well. But Acti Blizz is listed so we'll find out in the half yearly .
