    I know many of you are wondering what Blizzard is up to now with StarCraft II... such as what is happening with the Mothership? Is it going to be unique or not? Are the Reavers going to be back or are they permanently removed?

    Right now the devs are working hard in testing what is right for StarCraft II, and what can be improved with other functions or new units. Once we are more sure on those answers, be sure we will let you know.

    Either way, be sure StarCraft II will be finished at Blizzard's highest standard, and we hope to surpass your expectations.

    ---StarCraft II Q&A Batch 11---

    1) Will map sizes in StarCraft II be similar or larger than the maps in the original StarCraft?

    Map sizes can fluctuate on a per-map basis, but generally the playable area on maps are about the same. The terrain cells were converted over into the new editor to proportionally match the original StarCraft (i.e. 128x128 SC1 is about the same as 128x128 in SC2 ).

    2) Will StarCraft II Heroes have unique abilities?

    Heroes will have unique abilities different from regular unit abilities. Heroes will be playable only for single player and will not be a part of the multiplayer skirmish experience.

    3) Will the Terrans be weak to melee without the Firebat?

    Dont worry, the Terrans will have plenty of other counters to melee units. Nonetheless, because we know there are so many people who do love the Firebat unit, it will be in the map editor.

    4) Will Mutalisks attack still hit multiple targets?

    Yes, the Zerg Mutalisk unit is currently designed to hit multiple units with a single attack.

    5) Will a submerged supply depot still be able to be attacked? Will it have more hit points while submerged?

    Yes, the submerged supply depot will still be able to be attacked, and no it will not have more hit points. The ability to submerge a supply depot is designed to allow units to move over them strategically. Players will not only be able to keep enemies out, allow friendly units to pass through, but they are also powerful roadblocks in separating incoming armies in 2.

    That's VERY good news for Custom Map Makers. I'm quite happy that the Firebat is in the Map Editor, even though it didn't make it into the actual game and I hope that the same can be said for other old or scrapped units. I hope that we can play with revamped versions of Goliaths as well!

    As for the rest of the info, it's rather underwhelming. It neither told us anything new or confirmed or denied any rumors that we've heard... Though any information is a lot better than no information. Good job Ych9!

    By "good", you must mean "old." But it's not the worst one. I want the one where they say that they've added the Reaver back in, though.

    Well all of the questions bring new info. Its not one of those batches in which they tell us all that we already know.

    So far this is the least interesting and least imformative Q&A so far. Nothing new here and most of the things said we already knew was going to happen...maybe the next one will be better....

    When they said something about the mothership on top I thought there was news about the MS, alas no new detail.

    Zerg also please!!

    That is true. There was a lot of speculation going on about Mutalisks and Hero abilities, and now we know for sure that the Mutalisk attacks more than one target (like in the 20 min gameplay video) and that Heroes will have unique abilities in the campaign (like they did in StarCraft I)

    I think they didnt. You know, jim raynor has stim pack just like marines, kerrigan lockdown and cloak like other ghosts. Even unique heroes (like infested kerrigan) had the abilities of other units. The only thing that made them different was that they were just stronger.

    glad to see that the firebats in the map maker. and that the heros will have there own special abilitys not just suped up old ones.

    Jim Raynors battle cruiser can hit 3 units with 1 yamato gun :-X (It splits and hits three units dealing the same damage) :good:

    Speaking of hitting multiple targets, i have heard that battlecruisers can attack both air and ground units at the same time, is that true ???

    and its great that old units will be in the map editor, i smell custom scenarios from a long way here. Lol i just got a idea. A squad of terrans from broodwar travels into the future and goes into battle with all of the races :D
