First of all, welcome to the forums - but please use the edit function instead of double-posting. You might want to check the posting rules to avoid future posting issues.

Secondly, if you do a search you will come up with some talk about Starcraft II system requirements. However, seeing as the game is not even in Beta yet they have not released official requirements.

There are no official specs released yet, but from a guess standpoint, you should be able to play it with probably medium settings.

IMO more like minimum specs, but you will probably be able to play it. Sorry for the laptop part, buy a real pc, thats what a true gamer does :)

The video card would probably be the lackiest part, but a 7600 still isn't that bad. If he had a 6600, I'd be more inclined to say minimum. But I would say low-medium...for a game that is being boasted on working with computers from years ago, a 7600 is pretty dang awesome. Unless he only has 2 gig of ram, then I'd say low..otherwise medium. Not minimum by any stretch of thought.

2GB should be more than enough, i see 1 GB being minimum
and i feel for ya man, i use to only use a laptop too and thankfully it had issues atleast once a year (HP) and when i got it back from service they would have somehow damaged it...resulting in me getting a new laptop =)

buut i finally got my parents to buy a desktop...that is a monster...6GB RAM...quad core...2.6ghz...i think 512 or 756MG video its the 8600 or something xD

you should be fine though worst case you run on low-mid settings, i would say the best way to increase it to a definate mid level setting would be to increase your RAM

Aye, I'm probably buying a new ASUS G51 laptop as soon as the Newegg models come out. Can either get a Core 2 Duo between 2.0 and 3.0Ghz or a Core 2 Quad at 2.0Ghz (cant decide on which to get since most games don't benefit from a quad yet). It has 4gigs ram, nice HDD space, and most importantly, a nvidia 260m GTX. Looks like a nice machine for a laptop, I just hope the higher-end version of it comes out on time. There is a Best Buy version already out for only $999 but it's that cheap because it's only got a Core 2 Duo @ 2.0Ghz :-/ Still a good deal, if anyone's looking for a mid-range gaming laptop.

I'm not sure what to expect for SC2's requirements though! I'm sure it will be pretty scalable for lower-end PCs but as for high settings, who knows.

Windblade how many mhz are your RAM? Nice PC, I would have spent 100-150 more dollars on the grafic card though, can become a problem in 2 years comparted to the rest of your pc :p Im probably buying this laptop for high-school begin (11grath):

    Configuration

    Keyboard DK - Black

    Miljøafgift

7600go is a mobile card, and somewhat old, too... i'm sure it'll make the minimum specs, no problem. not sure about turning up the settings, though. medium's probably the highest you'll be able to make.

    This is

All the Nvidia chips ending with 600 have problems, mostly compatibility. When they work, they're grand, but with older games, you often get bizarre coloring, lines, and lower rezzes.

Furrer I think you'll be able to play Starcraft 2 with that Zepto without too many issues but really you should do yourself a favor and buy from another brand. And this is coming from a former Zepto owner (feel free to PM me if you want more details). Sorry for going a bit off topic here.

About the requirements I suspect they won't be that high for Starcraft 2. When games like Warcraft 3 was launched most decently up to date computers had no trouble playing it and it's likely to be the same in this case I think.

Leffy I know the issues with Zepto, but I also know the issues with other brands, and this time I wanna try something different. It has also been a problem for me finding good laptops in my country, and I didnt want to pay like 100 dollars for shipping. I have purshared the Laptop yesterday.

Btw Zepto was actually suggested to me by my brother and 3 other students (2 og them study computer technology), so I think ill believe them ;)

I have a kind of feeling that you will be able to run it on medium.

Oh, I never catched your message :) Yeah its a bit old. But the cache is high and I think I will survive with that. Medium was what i was striking for :)

I'm undecided on whether I should upgrade my whole rig or would 2GB of overpriced DDR1 mean I can play Medium to High. My Rig has is a Lanparty NF4 UT SLi-D with a socket 939 and ddr1 only compatibility.

    AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual 4200+ 2.21GHz
    OCZ 512x2 DDR400 PC3200 RAM
    7800GT Nvidia GeForce 256MB

The possible short term upgrade would be 2x1GB DDR400 PC3200 Samsung RAM.

Hmm in all cases the RAM looks bad I think. And 246MB Grafic Memory could be a big problem too.

Hello, can someone give me an educated guess on whether sc2 would run with this (on lowest settings) and if it would lag in larger games.

ATI Radeon HD 2400 1395 MB
    3 GB RAM
    Intel Core 2 Duo T5450 @ 1.66 GHz
    32-bit Vista

For the first, how many MHZ's are your RAM?

For the 2nd, are you sure that your grafic card is on 1,4GB? :D

And the 3rd, that CPU will be a big problem.

@Zaniro: if you're running XP I would -expect- you to be able to play on that setup. I would make the ram upgrade though, and I would expect to see a little lag with a lot of onscreen movement.

@Busdude: I'm assuming you meant 512MB on the video card as I've never seen that card above 512. The CPU will be fine if SC2 is multi-threaded. Otherwise, I agree with furrer that it is a point of concern. But I'm pretty confident it will run the game, without much lag in large games. As to what quality you could play it is impossible to assume, but I think its safe to assume what would run the game even at this point.

A small note on the mem speed. The clock speed is not really a make or break aspect of ram. If you have a low clock speed you just want a lower timing to match and the difference will be negligible for the most part (I consider a 75% difference in retrieval time for ram to be more or less negligible. As far as your frame rate is concerned it won't translate to much unless your other components still can't keep up.).

I think were all probably overshooting the required specs a little bit. but that's better than going under i guess. And it's really almost impossible to know what to expect at this point with what appears to be at best a long wait before even beta begins.
