in the starcraft editor, it had the same interface as in the game. but there were add-on layers to help you edit maps that made the interface look emo. will the starcraft 2 editor have the same purpose? and will the editor have the same editing options?(triggers, doodads, etc) and in the starcraft editor, there were restricted units, heroes, buildings, and extras that could only be reached by download an alternative star editor. they differ A LOT. the star editor can also defy the laws of gravity, (for example, placing a supply depot on water ) can the starcraft 2 editor have these same benefits from the the stareditor? or will you hafta download an additional editor? whats your guys' perspective? ???
I agree with generalgrievous, i got some major expectations of the StarEdit 2.0. I guess i'll just go into a freakish map-making frenzy once the game gets out (and i've completed the campaigns, ofc!).
lol dude my name aint generalgrievous its rievous god thats like the 3rd time ive seen that and NO its not a misspelling its my own sw character I made just FYI not intending on being offensive
thats super original rievous... I'll probably just play around with the editor mostly but still only make my one map.
Here is an interesting piece found on the last page of one of the PCGamer scans: We all know that the StarCraft 2 Campaign Editor will be written in a "proprieatary" format as stated here: So I have high expectations for another StarEdit being a map maker myself.
of course they will be. Each editor for a blizzard game is incredibly more detailed than the last. StarCraft to WarCraft 3 was 5 years and the editor made a ton of advancements Warcraft 3 to StarCraft 2 will probably be 5 or 6 years (2008 or 2009) so it will make a ton of advancements too.
For the map editor do you think we will be able to customize unit voice commands example... Marine says googog , you can erase it and add in ur custom sounds ex. Arnold Scwarazegger IM A COP YOU IDIOT I think that would kick ass if u could custom units voice commands Thoughts?
Well Blizzard said it embraces the starcraft modding community and indeed, the modding community is what made StarCraft so enjoyable over the years aside from the professional league plays. So it would not be hard to have it implemented, but if the editor does not include that, I am definitely sure a third-party developer will make something to edit it.
