Starcraft 2 Community Replays-Tips for a noob, from a noob.

i will be starting a community replay on youtube. i will be taking games from this community and others to post on youtube and to show everyone mistakes that many noob players make along with the good things that these players do. i ask from you now is to send me a replay that you want to be casted. i will give you the link to it when its done and you and everyone else can see how your game can be improved. i do not claim to be the best. im far from it. but i do watch alot of replays and live streams, and i have an idea on how starcraft is played

submission process- please just send the replay through email via an attachment to samifish182@gmail.com, then post on here that you have sent the replay and would like me to cast it. this is because i made this email for this service so im not in the habit of checking it daily yet, so id like your help.

I caved and sent you a replay It's a good example showing that you shouldn't panic if you get thor rushed by a TP matchup in 2v2 lol

This is a GREAT idea and I hope this goes well.

I love the fact that... as you put it... ur a noob too, I really don't like the experts "coaching" noobs as we need a much more basic help.

You should also see if you can get some replays of people getting gold on the "counter" challenges to show noobs some good unit counters.

(just a suggestion, You should find replays that focus on specific things, eg: How to defend against rushes, how to do a rush, Protoss Tips, Zerg Tips, Terran Tips, etc.)

 

Just youtube the challenges, there's a bunch of good videos on that, especially with PsyStarcraft (he does one drunk and still get's gold, it's quite funny actually lol).

if its good, ill re-commentate it with the actual screenflow and not the demo to get rid of the big words in the middle. (i didnt know about that, since this is my first mac :/)

 

although i havent perfected the zerg one, i have perfected the toss and terran one. would you like to see those?

No but seriously, I won't be able to watch the full replay right now (I'm at work) but already there's 2 things that are bugging me...

a) recorded on the lowest graphic settings >_>
b) the "Screenflow Demo" that's constantly across the screen

HOWEVER, I haven't actually watched the replay with sound or anything, so I can't really comment. I really hope the idea sticks though and if you want Sami, I can send you more replays

 

dont mind it on lowest setting since thats what i play with, but the screenflow demo makes it hard to see whats going on.

The sound is also really low, even at max I have trouble hearing what you're saying.

alright, so because of popular demand, i am going to do two things

1. i will download screenflow pro and reupload TheSneaks game. if i choose to do so i might rerecord in higher quality, but i do not know how choppy the game will me, thats where i need to experiment

2. i will make the terran and protoss counter unit videos, and i will work on my zerg to bring that as will.

a couple of things the replay is on normal at the start at least set it at faster since that what we play on. second with the mic try to talk over it when saying P and S this will reduce the sounds these make which i cant really describe. i think if you sped it up increased the sound (and quality in game if you could) you may be ok as this is your first go. also may want to look at blip tv as you can see more video time in one video and i hate parts.


also i reasonably epic video if you want to cast it though it is LONG! i wouldn't advise watching it on normal. and if you want thoughts on what i did at any point in the game feel free to ask, as i like to know the intent behind something when i watch sc vids

 

I'v sent you a replay, would be really excited to see it casted. I think this was a great idea. Hopefully I'll send you more replays in the future.

I have reuploaded TheSneak's game with the screenflow demo thing removed, put it on faster, and i got an awesome mic, so no more quiet talking.

TooChaos- ill get around to it one day, but i think i should become a better commentator before i tackle such a big order. interesting as the game is tho, itll wait, if thats okay with you.

MoTown, i think im going to do your game next.

***to all- i think that im going to do the counter unit videos. still havent perfected the zerg but im trying my hardest as my micro with zerg is awful.

Also, some people complained about the quality-although its not perfect, i did manage to get 720p on there, and it looks good to me. hope you like it!

 

Woot! Awesome job Sami, the second take of your first cast is much much better good to see you listening to suggestions, your improvement was immense.

One thing though, the in-game sound sometimes gets a bit loud and it's hard to hear you occasionally (although your new mic is awesome lol). Other then that, no complaints

 

Alright- so update on a couple things

1. i started school, so getting to the videos will probably be a once a week thing, especially with soccer around.
2. ive decided to do motowns replay before the counter challenges, since i can recordi those on anything and then do the commentary later.
3. how much would guys mind if i showed you my patented 3raxs build? it took me from 86 bronze to 16 or so silver( with mid and late game variation)((and i have another game for a thor+rine build that dominates zerg if those terrans are interested)

And I'm not good at catch-phrases :S

 

School + a sport ( in my case Cross Country) Will likely slow my gaming down a bit too. As for a sign-out are you looking for a saying or a logo? Because if your looking for a logo I think you should incorporate something like a funny pic of a fish into it.
