Starcraft 2 bonus minigames?? I noticed in the original SC campaign game you had some really long missions, but I would kind of get tired of playing SC after that and wait like another hour to play again. What I was thinking is to put in minigames between every 3 or so missions just to relax for the next mission. For example. Raynor has just defeated the zerg on a planet, but the planet is about to blow so Raynor trys to escape from the planet. So as a small little mini gamem you put a small game of you controlling a battle cruiser trying to get out and fighting your way through a bunch of mutalisks and scourges to try and escape the planet. Then the next mission would have you in that planet that Raynor escaped to. I know this is kind of a strange idea for an RTS, but it could be used just to give a little relaxation for the player, and they don't have to be such big ol mini games I'm talking about small games. And of course you will be able to skip those minigames, but you do get rewards the first time you finish that minigame. So maybe give you money in the terran missions to buy other units. What do you guys think?
I totally agree. But would think these would not be a part of the 30 or so missions planned for each installment. And this would be a really good idea to redo these fun little missions over and over. But the catch is. This is extra content to the game. Which will delay it even further. Only a little delay mind you but it all adds up.
It's not a bad idea, but it would delay sc2 coming out for at least 2-3 months... lol, think of all the graphics and **** they'r gonna have to do for your minigames to work
It's a good idea, but I'll have to say no. This will only delay the game, and for what? Minigames. Why not let all the creative map makers do those instead? Besides, the reason you want the mini games is to that you can take a break from the "real" campaign. Why not make that a real break and play some user made UMS-maps?
To the ark: It wouldn't be part of the 30 missions since it's just a small little fun mini game that u can play over and over again for the fun of it. Maybe even have like 3 levels for the minigame if u wanna play it again, but like you said it would have to be delayed >.<. Gasmaskguy: I'm not talking about games like UMS. I'm talking about different types of games that aren't RTS. This most likely won't be put into SC2, but it is a cool idea just to take time away.
If these came in patch (anything after 1.00) of the Terran box I'd be ok with it. Kind of like that RPGish campaign of TFT in Warcraft 3. Part of it was done way after the game was released. I think that'd be a better idea as the game wouldn't be delayed then. Only a little part of it would be.
Nah, I think it would rather take away from the actual game. Plus hardcore RTS players or just good SC players would be thrown off by it.
Well Willy you do make a good point there. Anyways some other users could just make these kind of mini games as user created maps/missions. They did a whole heap of them for SC 1. I say just let the mods/devs out there in the public out there do it. And with the new map creator is should be much easier.
I voted yes, but they probably shouldn't be in the campaign unless they're hidden or bonus optional maps .. like Dark Origins. Otherwise, mini-campaigns with this would be nice. Just because chronologically it's in the main campaign doesn't mean it can't be in a mini-campain or a stand-alone map. But, as for the main idea of changing up the pace.. I can't stress enough that this is a great direction to take.
I am sooo going to get nuked for this... [starts walking to the entrance of a deep underground bunker] (gods I hope they don't use a Riven device) The green dog has a valid point, and so does the creepy chap with gasmask. First I shall point out that regadless of their diverging opinions they represent two basically different approaches to gaming and the appreciation thereof. Thus both must be taken into account to accommodate for a larger audience. Warcraft 3's expansion featured a single "Tower Defense" style minigame that could be found during the Blood Elf campaign by the inquisitive player and could be skipped and provided nothing essential to the games plot. Nonetheless a number of people (myself included) enjoyed the little jaunt presented and proceeded further in the game, looking for additional "easter egg" minigames. And found no others (correct me if I am mistaken on this point). What this boils down to is bonus content ladies and genlemen and specifically minigame content there is bound to be somekind of minigame already present inside the game the question is merely quantity. And besides we have all waited ten years for this (although I understand that some Koreans are dreading the prospect [smiles] - oh and I having nothing against Koreans), a few more months will not cause any damage. (here comes the nuking) And besides Blizzard said the game will be ready when it is ready.
