Sweet music to my ears! It may be silly but I'm practically jumping for joy knowing that it's going to beat in a "few months"; beta normally only is around for a few months as well so by the end of the year starcraft II. Hoooraaa!! whew i knew a cigeratte

  3. Apparently, somewhere in that report that's not in the summary I linked to, they confirmed that they will be releasing a particular game in 2009 though it was not said which one.... although, I'm sure we can all agree what game that is most likely to be :D (StarCraftWire.net)

    Another WoW expansion baaaby!!! JK

Looks like we'll get StarCraft 2 in 2009. But, we've got to remember that Blizzard could very well have a rough beta and need some more time developing like they did with the original game.

Yes! I hope it does come out soon so then we do get Starcraft 2 in 2009. Even if I probably will not be able to play the beta, it still means it might be coming out this year.

That's what the currant rumors have been saying, I believe they started back around December. I forget which site I was on but I found it trying to look up what kind of specs we are looking at to run the game. That's when I discovered that some was using common sense on Blizzards past and what they have already said, to guess that the beta would be about June/July and that the actual release would then be in November.

    I'm sorry, but, so what?

Did anyone think the beta was more than a few months away?
Did anyone think SC:WoL wouldn't hit shelves before the end of 09?

well its definatly going to be befor christmas because come on how stupid could blizzard be to release a game after christmas when everyone is done spending their money on their kids or themselves. its definatly going to be befor december 25th and a november date seems about right. because all the die hard fans will get it right away befor christmas(like me :D) and then all the more casual gamers will find out later or remember about starcraft and then flock to the stores around christmas a month later when the advertisements are in plain sight at the malls when shopping for their other gifts.

Novemeber works better for me anyways because then i'll have enough money for my brand new DELL XPS 730 with the new intel core i7 :) maybe some surround sound to boot.

well, considering how long this game has been worked on (rumors say it started in 2004), even if the game looks almost done, there was no way of stating that it could take only a few more months to finish and have any proof to back-up your statement.

Well I hate to say it, but while your right, it is impossible to determine (prior to notification from blizzard themselves... and knowing blizzard even post notification) how long it would take to complete the game... I do hope this doesn't come as a huge shocker to anyone. Whether anyone wanted to believe it or not, I think most people knew the day they made the alpha playable that we would probably see the game on shelves in late 2009. That said we might still not see it on store shelves in 2009. I, however, believe that blizzard (liking money the way they do :: see WoW) will let this one go right after thanksgiving.

Thanks for the info Tychus. You seem to be responsible for most of the relevant news updates lately lol. Keep up the good work.

I don't remember the source, but I am 100% positive that Blizz has said the multipayer balancing (minus all the future patches ofc) is done. All they really had left was art work. Once that's all finalized you're in beta. Or your sitting on a hot IP for no apparent reason.

Follow the rainbow of logic; it leads to a pot of gold of common sense.

Blizzard said they still needed to work on battle.net so the beta could come out "in a reasonable period of time".

The art isn't fixed until the game is ready to shift.

blizzard did good 4th quarter ^_^

    sc2 here we come

  14. It was always possible that it could take longer than planned (2009). It still is quite possible.

And, no. They've been saying for a few months now that the multiplayer is pretty much done. Nothing more. Common sense would tell you that they aren't done with it yet (much less a few months ago) since they're still switching units and abilities around. In fact, they may the scrapping the Corruptor or it's ability according to a blue post a few days ago. Yes, multiplayer is close to being done.. but it is definitely not yet done. Also, even if it was done they still have that monster of a campaign to work on.

Furthermore, if you know anything about Blizzard then you should know that even if they gave us a firm release date tomorrow, it still could be several months past that when we get the game due to other problems. Blizzard has demonstrated this numerous times in the past. A Blizzard release date is only a few bars above speculation in certainty. Nothing more.

scrapping the corruptor's corrupt ability? Doing that, I think it would need a name change then.

  16. Hahaha! I agree! I'm having flashbacks to when they took away the Infester's Infest abilities ... Anyone know what happened with that? Is it back in?

Anyways, here's the link for what I was saying.. I don't remember the thread at Battle.net that I saw it in but I'm sure it's in there:

    http://www.starcraftwire.net/blog/comments/corruptor-changes/

-- Anyone find it funny that the Infestor is spelled with an "O" in almost all of the fan sites and (I assume) in the game yet the correct spelling according to Merriam-Webster's dictionary is with an "er". Does Blizzard need me to buy them a spell check? .. Maybe it adds personality :D

    Wings of Liberty: 2009.

Zerg Campaign/Diablo 3/Other game that not much info is out on right now: 2010

    Protoss one: 2011

    My guess.

@MW. Blizz said they want to work on each SC2 expansion for at least 12 months to make them feel polished, so I'd move Zerg to 2011 and Protoss to 2012 or 2013.

  19. Hopefully, Blizzard won't lose sight of their design philosophies with this new business model. If they can keep up the quality, then this news is even better than the StarCraft 2 announcement since it means I'll probably never have to go through so many years again without a new Blizzard game.

The more you wait the better the game gets.
    Why the rush?
