I checked and we don't have a thread on stalkers?!?!

These were one of the units that really made me go WOW. I think they will add a lot to the game, blinking looks too damn cool.

However, i believe they need vision of an are before blink in, so blinking up the side of cliffs into enemy mineral patch is not possible unless you have vision of it. Get an observer in their and all is good though!!

Blink will be useful to jump over small rivers/cracks, down or up a level quickly to attack fixed positions, and running or catching units. I think you will find that lots of players will use this ability nearly every game if they even produce 1 stalker.

I wonder if stalkers will counter hydralisks (if they are even still in the game).

How can they not be? If theres one creature that truly is the face for the zerg (in artwork and banners and such) it must be the hydra.

(and o yeah, they released like two starcraft 2 pieces of artwork with hydralisks.)

A group of Stalkers using the blink ability is a micro-management dream. I think they could counter Hydras pretty well, attack, blink, attack, blink. I don't think Hydras would be quick enough?

Then again, which unit would be quick enough for that?

A skilled player. If you look at the movie theres a cooldown for the blink and also a maximum blink range. I think its quite easy to counter.

I don't think the cooldown is that long though, I mean it's long enough for them to get their attacks in and that's all you need really. Still, maybe their armour/shields suck!

"Stalkers are armed with particle disruptors or "chronal webs" which can target air and ground opponents."

    First I've heard of this?

Well I for one am glad that they can attack air. Their attack always seemed a bit rickety for attacking air.

maybe the a emp device could cancel the blinking for a certain amount of time.defiler could probaly use a spell to stop it from blinking to.

I really forgot to ask, does blink cost energy? Cause if it does, an EMP would definitely disable it.

The answer is no. Check out the gameplay footage at exactly 6:52. The stalker only has shield and health bar. ::)

When I saw the title to this thread, I seriously thought it was about something else....

But yeah.....I'm liking what I see in the Stalker units. Pretty cool, and love how the Blink looks visually.

I think stalkers are what Protoss has always needed, a early mid-game high mobility harass unit. Against a base with poor static D around minerals and mostly melee infantry, continuously blinking back and forth behind and inside mineral patches could be useful to take out a good number of workers.

Zealots usually do the job pretty well harrassing an enemy's base in early-mid game.

Another good way to kill as many workers as possible is to send high templars in with the zealots. :)
