    I. Introduction

    1. Spore: What is it?
Spore is Life, remade. It is a simulation of the early beginnings to the future and ends! Will Wright's path of existence takes you on a journey from a single-celled organism to a planet-domineering society. He has divided this path in to five sections: The Cell, The Creature, The Tribe, The Civilization, and The Space Frontier. In the game, you start out as a microscopic life-form surviving on the sole nourishment of plant food. By consuming enough of these blobs, you can eventually buy mutations-anything from claws to jaws! These mutations stay with you throughout the entire game of Spore, defining your very evolution. Soon you will become multi-celled, then a Creature. As a creature, you can interact with others. You can eat, gesture, make noises, and even mate! Attract enough members to your pack and sentience is yours! You form a Tribe and attempt to recruit more of your higher-IQ'd species in to your own tribe. Use instruments of music and clothing to gain the trust and tribehood of others. You can even engage in combat and acquire members through force! Eventually, a population explosion will occur, and your Tribe will become a City. You choose the buildings, culture, religion... everything! You can even construct vehicles of land, sea, and air to make contact with other cities that have sprung up. After expanding militarily (yes, it is a word!) and culturally, you can gain enough technology to embrace the Final Frontier: Space. Here you can study foreign life forms, whether they be plant or animal, or just sandbox a whole new planet! The power is yours in Spore.

    2. The General Idea of the Starcraft Remake
In the Starcraft Remake, I have two plans of action: Either A) A Multi-Player Evolution-Fest or B) A Single-Player Epic Campaign of Life. Both paths are possible, but only one can be stepped up to at a time. The plan decided upon will depend on what I feel is easier and what I feel my current map-making skill is. I have tentatively begun work on a map for the Cell Game, but it can still go either way. If you have any opinion as to which playerability is chosen, please let me know either here or with a PM. Currently, I have divided the many different evolutionary possibilities in to three "Strains" of life: Zerg, Terran, and Protoss (For lack of better names). Each strain has a set of different possible avenues of evolution, where you use Weapon Mutations and Attribute Mutations. See what you get from each combination! However, some combinations don't work, which will result in de-evolution. You can either pick-and-choose which map you want to play, or you can go through it from the start! Just like in Spore, the power is yours!

    II. Game 1: Cell

    1. Description
In Game 1 of the Spore series, you are a tiny little cell trying to gather plant food among many other cells. You start out as a Probe, SCV, or Drone, then work your way up the microscopic evolutionary ladder using Weapon and Attribute Mutations. To reset your cell, simply re-buy one of the three Strains: Protoss, Terran, or Zerg.
Singleplayer: You are the only cell that can buy mutations, but there are other cells that start out with mutations. Defend yourself from these other cells while you gather enough plant foods to buy more mutations, and eventually, the ability to continue to the next stage: Creature.
Multiplayer: You are a special cell that is capable of buying mutations, fighting other cells over plant foods. Watch out, because your human opponents can also buy mutations. Make the right choices in your mutating to properly defend yourself. Last alive wins!

    2. Concepts
•Cell Mutating: Cell mutating is where you buy different mutations to change and better your cell. There are two ways to mutate: With a Weapon Mutation or an Attribute Mutation. There are four instances for each kind of mutation. Some mutations can be combined with others to create even more complex units.
    •Weapon Mutation Instances:
-Bladed: A unit with this instance will have a blade-like weapon, such as that of the Dark Templar.
-Spines: A unit with this instance will have spines for a weapon, such as that of the Lurker.
-Projectile: A unit with this instance will be able to launch or fire something, similar to the Marine.
-Explosive: A unit with this instance will have a weapon that is explosive, similar to the Siege Tank.
    •Attribute Mutation Instances:
-Preventive: A unit with this instance will have an ability that lets them slow down or immobilize an enemy unit, such as Infested Kerrigan's Ensnare.
-Damaging: A unit with this instance will have an ability that deals damage to a unit, such as the Dark Archon's Feedback.
-Movement: A unit with this instance will have an ability that gives them a speed boost, such as Jim Raynor's Stim Packs.
-Other: A unit with this instance will have an ability that is very specific, such as Magellan's Electro-Magnetic Pulse.
•Impossible Mutations: Some mutations are impossible to do, and therefore result in a waste of Plant Food. When this occurs, the unit Devolves in to a less complex cell. Impossible Mutations occur often, and can make or break the survival of a cell's species.
•Cell Immunities: Cell Immunities occur when one cell is immune to the other. This is a result of the curious separation of two different scientific cell levels: Air and Ground. For example, the Zealot is immune to the Corsair, as is the Corsair immune to the Zealot.
•Plant Food: Plant Food is the only source of energy for life forms during the cell stage. When enough are gathered, mutations can be purchased, thus allowing for domination over other cells. To consume Plant Food, simply enter the radius of it, and it will disappear, and give you one Mutation Point.
•Mutation Points: Mutation Points are received from consuming Plant Food. When you earn enough Mutation Points, you are given the ability to mutate once, allowing for more complex cells.

    IX. Thread Changelog

    1. Introduction and Table of Contents Added, Thread Changelog Initiated. (12-12-07, 5:45 PM)
The Introduction was added due to unhealthy promises by yours truly and demand from the public. The Table of Contents was Added as a sneak preview in to the future of this thread. The Changelog was Initiated because I changed the thread. Duh.
    2. Thread Changelog Dates Added. (12-12-07, 6:00 PM)
I forgot to add dates to these changes, so here they are... and yes, I did need a whole new Changelog log for this. BTW, all times are U.S. Mountain time.
    3. Poll One Initiated, Current Poll Information Added. (12-14-07, 7:35 PM)
I added the first poll, because nobody was giving feedback about single or multi. Thanks, guys. I also added a section in this thread that talks about the current poll and gives a link.
    4. Game 1: Cell Initiated. (12-14-07, 11:30 PM)
I made an Introduction briefly describing what the Cell Game is going to be like, but it is incomplete. Expect more information soon!
    5. Game 1: Cell Updated. (12-18-07, 7:30 PM)
I added all of the current game concepts. Soon I will have data tables of all the possible (and impossible) mutations!

How're you going to make a map on a game that's not out yet that's based on a game that was out 10 years ago. Sorry if you can't understand this statement.

Hopefully the Remake will resemble the actual game when it comes out.

i called it a Remake because the pre-alpha stage has been complete for the game. A Beta is coming soon, and anything around these testing periods I consider "Made" or "Playable" in every aspect. Information soon! Teaser(Will you understand it?):
-4 Weapon Mutation Instances: Projectile, Spines, Bladed, and Explosive
-4 Attribute Mutation Instances: Movement, Preventive, Damaging, and Other
-Currently 60 Planned Possible Cell Species!

Woah, just noticed that paragraph can be taken 2 ways.

I meant the actual game Spore has finished Pre-Alpha.

My Project still isn't even playable... Players aren't even humans yet!

    Definitions of testing:

Pre-Alpha: Key members of the company (in this case, contributors) test the game (in this case, map).
Alpha: All members of the company/all contributors test the game/map.
Beta: All people interested may test the game if they sign up before the test begins.
First Release: Game has been released to public. Expect patches.
Second Release: Most errors corrected. Expect smaller updates.
Third Release: Most kinks worked out; this is released a long time after second release.
-Patches and Updates to add more content until next version or discontinuity of the game-

So to Pre-Alpha, you must contribute a lot to the creation process. Like, a lot.

And imagine, triggers are the very blood cells that course through the living map. They bring air of fun to the living map, and allow it to breathe replayability.

Getting poetic, aren't you EatMe? I don't mean anything but I don't think this'll be finished anytime soon.

I give it... a year, with the amount of side projects i'll have to do (MOTMs, MM Comps, 'Breaks') but it will be worth it!

Hell, go for it. Not like you have anything to lose. But I could have sworn there was a game like this already out though...

Or was that just for Warcraft 3?

I've both played and tried to make my own version of something similar to this in WC3. When I read this I got a few ideas and I'll help you any way you want. This sounds like a really nice challenge.

PM me any ideas you have to offer, and if you want to discuss them, try to contact me on chat or AIM me at EatMeReturns5@aim.com. Im mostly open to anything, and I still want some lengthy feedback from someone who knows what they're talking about on whether i should imagine a good way to do multiplayer or whether to just do singleplayer.

...anybody catch the hint i put in there?
