Hi, I've been playing SC2 for a couple of weeks and am in the bronze league playing as terran. I want to get off on the right foot using they keyboard and control groups as much as possible. However I've modified the key setup quite a bit and while its seems easier now I wonder if as I progress if these keys will hinder me later on. The main change I've made is using [SPACE BAR] for all the most common unit actions. I currently have space to: STIMPACK CLOAK DE CLOAK SIEGE UN SIEGE SCANNER SWEEP LAND VIKING TAKE OFF VIKING POINT DEFENCE DRONE THOR 250MM CANNON YAMATO CANNON It makes playing without looking at the keyboard really easy. Select unit and press space. But is this setup going to slow me down in the long run? Will I need to revert to the standard key set eventually and as such may as well just learn the standard key set now? Thanks!
It will since you can't use some of those binds when you have units with various stances (e.g. compact tanks and siged ones). If you want a layout for the long run without needing to learn the hotkeys try grid because there's overlap among units but not abilities.
