First time watching a whole televised round of SC ... The talking never stops =O and the commentator's yelling is a tad disturbing when things heat up.

But SaViOr sure did win that fast. Even if it was just luck >>

I wouldn't say he got owned because early game is pretty much a rock-paper-scissor situation. Simply unlucky.

This is ZvZ, at pro lvl the average ZvZ games lenght is 8 min. But yes, this was fast, and im proud of Savior, GOGOGO.

 

he just got lucky with the 9 pool

 

9 pool is the standard gosu korean ZvZ build. Because pressure is key in ZvZ (yes, I have watched too much korean pro gaming).

There you can see, why you have to scout. The guy didn't even know what Savior had.

 

Hunter you normally dont drone scout in ZvZ at pro-level (at least not on those maps). You either go 9 pool (normally the best choice for the top-zergs), or you go 12 pool. But 12 hatchery is death, as you just saw.

 

It wouldn't mean instant death, if the enemy is also about to do a similar build.
And, say I am a noob, the drone is faster than the overlord, so I scout with it too. I know this means less minerals, but this way I can check out what the enemy has.
Ok I have to admit that pro matches are played really fast, but just imagine what would have happened if the guy scouted with a drone..

 

Yes its not like it matters so much on "our" level, but on that lvl, everything matters, especially in ZvZ.
Like someone said: "if SC is chess, then ZvZ must be 1 minute chess."
And it would very often mean death, perhaps not instant, but in the long run, because if you just get 3 drone-kills, then you are already better (faster mutas, same drone-count). Thats why the 9 pool is standard in ZvZ gosu level.
The BO is this:
make drones to 9/9
make spawning pool at 9/9
make another drone
take gas at 9/9
make overlord at 8/9
make another drone
(send 3 drones to gas)

And then you can either go for fast lings or fast lair.

 

I will try this build.. I have never really liked Zerg, no offense But it will be interesting to play.

 

I was thinking more along the lines of totally unnecessary high end hardware. SC could run on a calculator, basically.

 

I always thought of ZvZ as Blizzard's biggest mistake regarding Starcraft. I hope SC2 fills that gap with more exciting mirror matchups.

 

Perhaps, but it can be really fun to watch. But yes, the use of 5 units (overlords, lings, drones and mutalisk and the suicide units i cant remember the names of). But Terran isnt much more is it? Tanks + Goliahts + Dropships. Protoss is the only one with all units in I think.
But Im sure they will do it better in SC2.

PS: Im talking ´bout the pro-level, it can be that other units are used in "our" TvT, but its very standard only to use those in TvT pro level.

 

i always wondered why starcraft doesnt need all that hi-end graphics card and ram stuff
i could basically run on a gameboy SP, lol
