Alright so I always figured Starcraft to be a very unfriendly game when it came to mods, mainly because it is 10 years old and the engine used for the game wouldn't be that easy to change to make new things like units, attacks, etc unlike other games today like half life 2 and other recent computer games. Well anyway I was checking this site where I've been getting all my Half-Life 2 mods lately because I've been really bored lately and i noticed the Starcraft logo next to one of the recent posts and upon looking into it I found 50 modifications for Starcraft on the site most of them being big changes with all new units, effects and other big changes. So anyway check them out if you're looking for just a different way to play starcraft for a bit, get some fresh changes that will help tide you over until SC II. Also most of these are a year or more old so you may have to downgrade your system patches for them to work properly. Most of the ones that you do have to downgrade will include links to the patches and instructions on what to do if you don't know how, if they don't I'll be happy to get the links for you if you ask. One last note is that a few of these mods aren't finished yet as indicated as the TBD (to be decided for the release date) and a few of them don't have anything in the download sections I'm not sure why but just try typing in the mod name in google to find it. Anyway to of them that you might want to keep tabs on that haven't been released are Starcraft 1.99 which incorporates known SC II knowledge into the game play and does it well, if you look at some of the screen shots you'll see the thor and other new units and they look really good, but of course they always have outdated material like the Thor being built by the scv and the merc heaven but you can't really expect a moderation team to keep up with all the changes that it's going through or else the mod would never be finished. The other one to look at is Sons of War which looks amazing to me, featuring completely unique new units, 3d renderings of the units for cinematics and the rendering look great and it seems they have a lot of talented members so keep an eye on that one. And now after all my babble here is the link http://www.moddb.com/games/starcraft/mods Also i know i said last note up there but i just saw this right before i submitted the post, if you look on the active members for sons of war one of the voice actresses is Protosschick99, I don't know if she's the same as the one we have on our forum so hopefully she'll post and tell us if they are the same.
madly amazing. once I play SC again I'll try some of those out. *looks to CD drive* i want to but other thingds require my attention, curses. Curses!!! Well anyway, thanks for the info foxy, I'll try this stuff out eventually, or at least force eon to get it so I can see it. And that would be so cool if it's the same protosschick O O;;
