... and broke the Blizzard site while doing so. No url seems to work. But seriously: what's the official status of this game? I hope it's not cancelled. :/
Good question. I have finished to forget this game. When you look at the gameplay, the textures of everything (landscape, characters, units, etc ...) they are lame now. If Blizzard continues this game it will be .... a loss of time because they will have to deeply update the graphics to make it similar to SC2. I think this game is now abandoned. But Blizzard is looking for a lot of new members for hidden projects. Maybe they will revive this project.
The game has NOT been canceled. It's been put on hold indefinately or something. Note that this is not the same as being canceled.
I was thinking the same thing. I'm a bit reluctant to read wikipedia for info on these things. It also said that Duke Nukem Forever was cancelled a while ago, but it isn't. As for the graphics: those can be updated. The game is still there. It's just in need of a facelift. Further, Blizzard is indeed still hiring people. And if I would be a troll, then this forum is doomed. lol
well, you might not be a troll, but you can still troll ^^ and for the topic I have absolutely nothing to say...
Part of an interview with Blizzard co-founder Frank Pearce in 2008: Multiplayer: "StarCraft Ghost" was noticeably absent. It's not technically canceled? Pearce: It never was technically canceled. It's just a focus thing for us right now. We've got a finite amount of development resources and a lot of different things that we want to focus on so there's always the possibility, but right now we're spending our time on "World of Warcraft" and our expansion "Wrath of the Lich King" and "StarCraft II."
The game is mainly a console game. Blizzards attempt to make something that works for the consoles too. The 360, PS3 and Wii raised the console game standard though, making Ghost pretty dull and last generation. Now they're probably aiming/dreaming of a release on the next or next-next generation of consoles.
I think it's interesting how Blizzard seem to abandon games like they also did with that WarCraft-adventure game. I've always wondered if that's a good plan, like if they would release half-good games in-between their best-sellers if it would drag all of them down. Then maybe Blizzard would be known as a company that only releases mediocre games, I mean that games like WoW would be "just as good" but with maybe half or even a quarter of the customers because Blizzard would be less popular. I would love to see Ghost on the next-gen consoles. I don't know when those will come, but I remember reading somewhere the reason Crysis have been by far the best looking game for years now is because everyone is waiting for the next-gen consoles. Like it would be too risky to not make a game that's convertible, or maybe they just don't want to shame the console-folks into not buying their games. Anyway it sucks, I want to see games that make use of 16 CPU:s darn-it
You can see the original website here: http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.blizzard.com/ghost Blizzard has made contradictory statements about the game, such as Rob Pardo suggesting it was canceled here: http://www.onlinewelten.com/games/videos/4103-blizzard-interview-rob-pardo/ and Blizzard saying it should rest in peace here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Olyh2dHfmWQ&feature=related It was reported canceled by newspapers as well, such as http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2008/jul/17/it.games The game is being novelized; see here: http://starcraft.wikia.com/wiki/StarCraft:_Ghost:_Spectres There's no point of doing that if the game hasn't been canceled. Blizzard is currently not working on it now, and considering how long it takes Blizzard to make a game, if they start now, they'll miss this generation of consoles too.
Bizarre. On this list I can read Crisis and Nomad. Strange because there is a game which name is Crysis and you play the role of Nomad. This is an EA first person shooter game. Sorry, out of subject ... I don't know what Blizzard is doing with Starcraft : Ghost
