Hey guys, so lately I've been looking into getting a gaming mouse for playing starcraft, but after doing some research I'm starting wonder if they're really worth the price. I've searched on a lot of forums and most people tend to agree (from what i found) that mice with higher dpi aren't all that important for rts games and that the main thing to look for is something that is optical, wired, and feels good in your hand. So what I'm wondering is if it really is worth it to shell out $50 for a high end mouse that probably will only last 2-4 years (from what I found)? Or should i just stick with my $10, plain-o, 1000 dpi, logitech? Thanks in advance!

As long as the mouse feels good in your hands and your comfortable with it I don't see a reason why you should dish out your hard earned cash on an expensive gaming mouse.

Gaming mice with high dpi are usually meant for First Person Shooter games.

I played SC with a high performance mouse.. but now I'm using an old Dell mouse with a wire which is lighter then performance mice. I tend to use a lighter mouse.

in my perspective, if which mouse you are comfortable enough will be nice, its not necessarily you buy some fancy mouse to feel good, its what you are comfortable to use with. :p

I second that, for starcraft 2, optical, wired, and comfortable.

if what you have, is comfortable, don't change it. Logitech tend to last a very long time

If your looking to spend money on new hardware, I'd recommend getting a mechanical keyboard over a nice mouse. You can get Microsoft Intellipoint 3.0 from like any store (I got mine at Meijer) for like 20 bucks and its the exact same thing as a Razer Deathadder.

I just got the blackwidow (Razer's main keyboard) and I'll never be able to use a normal membrane keyboard again. It just feels so goooooodd :)

take a look at razer. this brand is amazing if you have the money (thats the counterpart :( ) I also have the blackwidow ultimate and an old deathadder, and they perform great for me cause I tune movement speed up-down or sides (my hand goes slowly up-down, so I speed it).

Also it will work with FPS and other games.

If you want a cheaper mouse, as said by others, a wired comfortable mouse is enough.

I'm in a predicament because I'd like to buy a new keyboard and mouse. The keyboard I need because currently I'm using a Logitech EX110 cordless multimedia one, which is quite slow compared to wired, and especially to mechanical keyboards. I'd like to switch mice because the current 4 euro one misclicks fairly often (doesn't always register or double-registers left clicks), which is very bad in SC2.

I wouldn't like to spend too much on these things but I'm willing to make sacrifices for better performance. It would aid in improving in SC2 as well as my general use of the computer. Would anyone have any suggestions for me within the price range of ~80 euros for the two?

you should be fine, with a brand new keyboard and mouse, logitech gear is always reliable, make sure its comfortable.

Only if you are determined to be amazing at games then you should consider performance gear, such as Logitech G15 or Razer Black Widow. Mouse comes down to preference.

I'm now the proud owner of a Razer Arctosa and a Logitech G400. I can't yet decide whether I'm 100% satisfied or 200%, but the more I'll use them the better I'll be able to handle them. On topic, the mouse is a lot heavier than my previous cheap one, but the shape is extremely comfortable and I'm expecting some relief for my wrist (maybe adding a mouse pad with a wrist cushion later). All sorts of **** can be automated so it's very convenient for both gaming and general use. I think I can recommend it to anyone.
