Nevermind the lack of real textures, lighting, animation goofs, etc...

Nice job, Paragon. May I ask what the polycount on that is?

Nice model, but I still prefer the current one Blizzard has.

It's 8620 polys. I didn't pay attention to the poly count as it's never going anywhere except 3DS Max.

A lot of the design influence is from the original SC siege tank with some advancements such as treads not being so exposed (you'd think in 400 years they would think of this) as well as random "I'll put this thingamajig here" with most of the other influences coming from modern artillery and tanks. None of the siege tank designs made any real sense in siege mode. It's what? A 170mm gun or something? In SC it was a (___) shape with no discernible hole for a projectile to come out. The first SC2 one had the fat red lips but was still (___) shaped. And the current one is a disc thrower. Discs in no way travel farther or more accurately than normal artillery shells of today. So, I took a cue from reality and gave it a nice big extending artillery gun.

TBH paragon, i dont see it as a disk thrower, what it seems to be is a magnetic accelerator, however, there's a muzzle blast on every shot so it's apparently discharged by that means. I suppose it'd be possible to do both? I mean, it'd make it a hella lot faster wouldn't it?

And tbh man, I like the exposed tread idea, keep in mind the kind of fucked up terrain there can be on other planets. Think of those tyco cars a few years back that had adjustable treads that could let you drive anywhere.

Magnetic accelerator or not, projectiles should be bullet shaped not disc shaped.

But thats what I'm saying. if you do look closely, it appears to be a bored cannon surrounded by armor plating / magnetrons. Find me a high res pic of the siege tank in and out of siege mode and i'll show you what I mean.

Thats not blizz, that was paragon rushing a model in order to show us a sorta rough draft of what he thinks it should be. And grr, next time read the thread man, that was really fuckin rude.

I like the current official design better. Perhaps you should do a sieged mode image?

I like Blizzard's model better. And the treads separating to support the Siege Tank on four corners are better looking and more clever I think.

I like the current official design (i thought i was the only one) but i also see what youve done here and i like it!

They should definitly do something about the spider lookin siege mode though. Your model would look really nice in siege mode Paragon.

there is one. watch the current animation to make a full revolution and then it will go into siege mode.
