There's been lots of evolution talk going on, but rarely have we talked about the changes that should be made to the sunken and spore colonies. Canons now are able to move to help counter the ability of units to go over land obstacles like cliffs. How are the new zerg defensive structures going to evolve to counter the new upgrades?

Not much you can really do to them. But I'm sure Blizzard will do something... maybe a lurkeresque attack for the sunken...

Yeah, a higher cost version most likely.

maybe they will make it so that after you evolve it into either spore or sunken you can evolve it further into like a sunken/spore combo or maybe switch from spore to sunken and vice versa

I am thinking that the colonies will not receive any upgrades as a good majority of the Zerg units have been revamped.

well missile turrets and bunkers are basically the same so I don't see why the zerg defenses will change all that much

perhaps like there can be this thing that allows all sunkens to attack all things in the creep. so if you start a new expo u won't have to defend it. althougth this would have to be an upgrade of massive monies. and each upgrade is invididual so it makes some sunkens vulnerable.

do you have any idea how unbalanced that is? how about having phase cannons instead be able to attack anything in the pylon fields instead of just being able to move a little bit. Or have all the bunkers connected so you can move units inside of them almost instantly so that you only need like 8 marines for your entire bunker system. Or having all the missiles from your missile turrets fire at a target if one missile turret locks onto it.
Basically, if something steps onto your creep, it will die from a ****load of sunkens attacking it at once

The idea of eating units seems really cool to me. Suppose you upgrade the sunken colonies so that instead of stabbing the poor little marines or zealots in the nether regions, grab them around the waist or have a little mouth at the end of the tongue that eats them, maybe recover a few hit points in the process. Hopefully limiting it to small units will preserve your precious balance.

so you want them to turn into sarlaac pits?

Don't we already have Sarlaac pits in the Desert/Korhal tileset? Besides, that doodad doesn't even do anything.

yes there is a sarlaac pit there. and none of the doodads do anything*. and for good reason, don't want the terrain killing part of your army.

*missile trap and gun trap are not really doodads as they are owned by a player

Yeah, when they step too close, they get blinded and thus can't do anything for 5 seconds, then, an infested marine appear infront of them and yell : THIS. IS. OUR CREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP and you fall in a pit and die painfully.

;D That would be rather cool as well, so we have:
    Creep Colonies
    Spore Colonies
    (1)shoot spores at air units
(2)how about poisoning units with its spores for a very small DOT ?
    Sunken Colonies
    (1)stab things with its tongue
    (2)grab/swallow people with its tongue
Sarlacc Pit (I had to google it, LOL)
    (1) units slide into the center and get eaten up?
    (2) eats learger units?Worm comes out the middle?

Sounds OK to me, Protoss will pwn them anyways. 8)
    Sorry about all the emoticons.

Whatever about doodads, doodads are booooring.

how about the spore colony shoots spores at ground units while the sunken colony hits air units with its tongue. Just to mix it up.
