Me too since they had good damage and softened targets up for Mutas while reducting the enemy's firing rate. Corruptors are pretty good against Carriers and Battlecruisers but sort of suck against Void Rays.
I say no, because the Devourer's ability was a stacking increase to damage taken, right? The Corruptor has an ability that you just slap on that gives the same benefit.
I'm kinda 50/50 since they're so similar but Devourers also slowed the enemy's rate of fire which was nice. I just played a game where I had about 30 Mutas and I ran into a Protoss fleet of about 30 void rays and I lost all my Mutas with only taking out 2 or 3 ships. I'll try to post a replay. I was trying to focus fire and take them out as fast as I could. Corruptors aren't really any stronger against Void Rays than Mutas. I find you basically have to build Hydra if they go Void Rays which sucks because they take up 2 supply now and if you're in a 2v2 game, you won't have much supply left to build things like Roaches etc to protect you from the other guy's mass Zealots/Stalkers.
...Did it slow rate of fire? Huh. And yeah, from going random against the computer I tried Mutalisks a few times when I hit Zerg. It really seems like they lose if they don't outnumber the enemy's AA units. I've seen huge armies of Roaches and Hydralisks from one player though. Maybe it's hard to find that perfect balance? How much health did Devourers have? And Corruptors have something like 200? 250?
"A unit affected by spores will be revealed (if cloaked), have its attack speed slowed by 1/8 per spore, and take 1 point of additional damage from every attack for every spore attached." A devourer is 250 health ya, and they did 25 damage against all air units. Corruptors do 14 damage to regular air units, have 200 health and get a bonus against massive units. Actually a lot of units had good health in Brood War. You could get 2 hydras for 2 supply, each with 80 health, giving you 160 altogether, and 20 explosive damage. For 2 supply in sc2, you get 1 Hydra with 80 health and 12 regular damage. Or, for 4 supply, you could get 2 guardians, each with 150 health, so 300 altogether, and doing 40 damage together, or in Sc2, you get 1 Brood Lord with 225 health and doing 20 damage (plus the broodling thing that crawls around). The Mutaslisks and Zerglins are exactly the same and Ultras have 500 health instead of 400 in sc2. If you compare Banelings to Scourges, Banelings do 20 damage to units and 80 to structures. Scourges did 110 to air units and floating buildings. Infested Terrans did 500 explosive suicide damage in Brood War.
The percentage thing bothers me immensely and I wouldn't mind increasing corruptor cost slightly in exchange for devourer passive abilities. Really, how much damage would a "corrupted" unit take from a marine? I don't like fractions and neither does Starcraft. It should be about integers and clarity (this is also why the low ground penalty was removed). Also, what has corruption got to do with taking more damage? ...
