I've never understood why unicorns supposedly dwell within forests. Roots, uneven terrain, trees....Generally those of an equine persuasion avoid those areas and gravitate towards, well, plains.

It's because of their Alicorn (the Unicorn's horn). As such, they have to hide away from all the horsey ladies who go berserk at them, almost as if they were using the Axe Deodorant :D

Anyways, thanks for the welcome and I'll hope to see some nice debates in here. I would've joined the official forum, but I don't have a CD key and I cba to buy a Blizzard product atm. Maybe I'll get my hands on SC1 again, though. We'll see.

welcome to our little hut in the enchanted forest, filled with ponies and unicorns.
not to the forest, as a certain someone told you...
dont leave the hut, there's vampires in the forest, too.

i've never really wondered about it. most fantasy forest creatures would do a lot better outside the forest, hell, even elves themselves, superior archery isnt that good in situations where there is always a tree in the way. I know they are supposed to use the trees for cities, but cant they just plant a few in the open steppe and cut away all the new trees?

yes, but there is a reason that the title involves bullets and not bows.

Their superior sight isnt better either in a place where a tree is always in the way

On the other hand night-vision is awesome in a place with all the trees, roots and bushes in the way

All elves have is better aiming, not shooting through trees.
blagh, halflings should be living in elven territory and elves in halfling. Slings make a lot more sense in forests, exchanging range for impact, eveb more concidering in most settings you dont see rocks near halfling villages. Ponies are less at a disadvantage in forests then majestic elven steeds too.
Also, why do elves have protection against the elements and are still shown to be all living in nice humid forests? The only real exception to that rule seems to be the riftwar saga, but elves life pretty much in every climate there.

I take the simple aproach to forests, burn it down to the ground and continue on my way unabated.

As far as the elf thing goes, camouflage as well as the height advantage. Elves aren't exactly long-range marksmen, but more short range snipers. Hell, most elves I've seen don't really use longbows, more often shortbows.

How did it come to this? From hello and goodbye to unicorns and elves? xD
Is it because of my outfit? Well it is green and it is made of latex rubber (from the rubber tree), so I guess it's sort of logical hehe.

In that case, I'd love to meet the ladies living in that forest. *squeak squeak* :D

Our discussion went an odd way indeed. I mentioned eldritch abominations, yet we chose to discuss the unicorns. Hell, Fenix did not reply to the eldritch abominations at all.

But we should totally make a thread to discuss the odd living area's of fantasy creatures.
